Once in a while things will pop up in my head from my child hood or in my 20's and I'll just laugh. Just thought this would be fun to post things from the past.
Do you remember..........
GLASS Click Clacks ??? I had a pair of these when I was about 13 years old, we would bring them to school and walk thru the halls with these dangerous toys. They were so much fun, we didn't mind the bruises OR the risk of them shattering and breaking in your face.
Oh, yeah! I remember those, Leenie!
And what was that thingy called... it was like a piece of skipping rope with a hoop for one foot, and a bell-like thing on the end. You'd swing your foot round in circles...
oh this is fun. I was just remembering the cool toy I used to get in my Easter basket as a kid...
It was this little bird shaped plastic whistle and you would fill it up with water and when you blew into it it would tweet like a little bird.
Anybody else remember this? My hubby thought I was insane.
I also had one of those little metal clicker toys that would drive my folks crazy. They got taken away rather quickly though. *L*
Any of you remember the game "Cats Eye"? You had to make your cat out of the right colored marbles then search for the black marble for the eye? I loved that game!! heh I still have it too, glass marbles and all.
I think they were called "Clackers" in UK. Except the Head master at my school who banned them called the "Knockers" which had the whole school in fits as slang for breasts - in UK anyway. Yeah we had the hoop thing too. Oooh which remind me - anyone remember hula hoops? I still see these form tiem to time - supposed to be good for the waist.
I remember kerplunk et al too. In the 80's it became quite the thing to play all those old games in clubs - such as kerplunk, buckeroo and operation
I used to play Kerplunk all the time as a little kid, cause it was a game you could play by yourself. *L* My parents hated games. I used to play Cooties when I was little too. I loved that game.
I loved Bogle...the noise of shaking the cubes with letters. As for hula hoops I won dinner from a radio staion for beating not only adults but kids doing the hula hoop. Plus won more for the tie for the game Twister. Man those were fun. I remember the clackers, my parents wouldn't let us have them due to the breaking part.
Lizz - I used to get those birds too... my grandma used to give them to me... I'm so glad to see that someone else remembers them... Use can make the same noise that the clickers made, by clicking a bottle cap such as snapple.
I also loved Clue and Candyland... I never could hula hoop though...
Anyone remember Pogo Balls? Or playing "Cat's Cradle"?
I always got the birdie whistle from my grandmother too. That's funny. I never have seen them in the store though, I wonder where she got them. Probably from Harriett Carter catalog or something. Gotta love those crap catalogs you start getting when you hit 40. I steal them from my folks all the time.
I still do use the bottle caps as a clicker, but my husband usually get's sick of it quickly and I get it taken away again. *LOL* I'm such a pain. Speaking of husbands and pain...
Mine is not allowed to play clue. or most board games. because he regresses into some spoiled child that has tantrums and gets upset if he doesn't win. he actually made his teenage sister cry a couple years ago when we were playing clue. It's hilarious, but at the same time, nobody will play with him. hehehe. I know I'm not the only one with a hubby like that... i've seen them but I never knew i had one. *LOL*
