Default Carrots, Fat and Sugar

Been meaning to ask this question for some time now.

As you all remove fat and/or sugar from your diet/food plan, do you find yourself craving other forms of sweetness, like carrots? sweet potatoes?

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this because i sure am! i never used to eat carrots or sweet potatoes or other such veggies, and now i just want them at least once a day!

Granted they're much better for you than icecream.

No, but then sweet stuff doesn't really rock my world. I crave greasy, fatty, salty stuff, like pizza, nachos, french fries, nuts. Also beer. So I 'do the crave' maybe once every 2 weeks, that seems to be enough.

I know exactly where you are coming from.....but instead of carrots and sweet potatoes its any kind of fruit, but especially strawberries..... cuz they are really sweet or pineapple, I think if you have a sweet tooth you probably will always crave something with sugar in it.....

I've noticed as I eat better I really appreciate the taste of food, I also use almost no salt.

I told Larry when I was on Atkins it was all about reducing that "sugar craving", I don't have a problem with that now...like you if i crave something sweet I have something healthy that is sweet and doesn't spike my blood sugar and make me tired later, carrots are great for this, I love them.
AAAHHHH sweet potatoe's my gosh I never ate them till about 7 years ago, must have had a bad one when I was little, but I love them now, I mix a little splenda and molasses and sprinkle it on them and MMMMMMMMMMM
Good for us that we have found a way to have what we want and stay healthy while having it.

Thanks for all the responses. Now i'm reassured that i'm not too weird.

About fat versus sugar: doesn't fat taste kinda sweet? Not like sugar-sweet, but sweeter than the food would be without it?

Maybe this is just my taste buds changing. Sugar doesn't rock my world either, Seek. And fatty foods give me indigestion if i so much as look at them. Heaven forbid I actually eat any!!! (Have been carrying a supply of PepcidAC with me everywhere just in case I'm stuck with only fast food.)

But it's odd. Back when I was a kid, eating the standard all-American diet of the 1960s' (bland food whose only flavoring came from salt or sugar or fat or all three!!!!), i hated sweet tasting veggies, could hardly even get them down the hatch. Now I think that may have been because it was just too much sweetness at one time; my body knew this was not a good thing and rebelled.

Now finely sliced carrots in tomato soup taste really good!
