Default New from Minnesota

I'm new to this forum and would like to find someone to chat with and to give/receive support.

I'm a stay at home mom/licensed daycare provider and I sure don't have a lot of time to devot to myself! You'd think chasing kids all day would make the pounds just drop off, but they don't! The binge eating and eating for comfort make up for the extra exercise. I'm feeling pretty low and discouraged right now and could use a new friend . . .

Smile Hi!!!!

Comic Sans MS
Hi! Welcome!!!!! This is the best spot to be. I have been a member for a while and have gone from 221lbs to 172lbs. My daughter is almost two and I have been trying to lose the weight for that amount of time. If you want to have a buddy I would love to talk. I chase my daughter everyday and you are right the weight does not come off that easy. If you would like to talk I am here. Have a great Thursday.

Hi there ljs
I am new myself so welcome! This is a wonderful site! I am only in day two of the new me with a long way to go...but I have new hope that I will get there and so can you!
So much of losing weight/the way we feel about ourselves is psychological. It's a lot of mind over matter. Focus with the support you will receive here will work wonders.
Take care!

nona & Dutchy

I'm so glad that I found this place - I think it will be a good thing! I was having a really bad morning and really feeling low. I finally decided that I would set a short term goal for myself and go from there . . . I would like to lose 10 lbs by Memorial day - that would be about 2 lbs per week - I think that's doable I also just ordered the Dr. Phil book - I read some pretty good things about it today while looking through the website. Have either one of you read it yet?

"Realistically to be with in "healthy" range for my height (5' 7") I have a little over 100 lbs to lose. Man that seems like a HUGE number!

I'm looking forward to being a part of the support everyone has here! Thanks for brightening my day up!

Hi Lisa
No, I haven't read Dr Phils book....I may even pick up a copy tonight.
And don't be daunted by the numbers as far as weight loss goes. Little steps make for a journey won. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Talking

Good morning all! I'm feeling awesome today and have started my journey! It's a little scary, but I know I can do it!

I weighed in this morning and now know what I need to do. I'm going to set a small goal for myself to start with - I think losing 10 lbs by Memorial Day is pretty realistic, don't you?

Anyway, I started my day eating breakfast with my son & I just cut the portion that I would normally eat in half. I don't think I'm going to count calories, fat, etc - way too time consuming for me. Later on when the daycare kids leave, we're going to go to the park and for a walk. I need to get the outdoor walking in while I can - before mosquito season sets in!

Wish me luck and thanks for the support! Have a SUPERB weekend!!!!!

Wink

Hey nona - It's been pretty good so far. I'm having a snack attack right now so I decided to come and play on the computer The is shining and it's such a BEAUTIFUL spring day that I can't wait to get outside!

I was just looking at the recipe section here to see what there is. Any suggestions for good healthy recipe books? OR, do ya have any you'd be willing to share ??

Gotta run, Barney is over and it's snack time for the kids - now we'll see if I can stick with a healthy snack too It's been pretty tough with all the easter candy left over !!

Making the most of today is the best preparation for tomorrow
