Smile Oh my goodness! I saw myself on video!

I went to a wedding Friday, they video taped the ceremony and then at the recetion showed it on the big screen. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Could this chunky round face woman be me? No wonder my aunts and even my grandma didn't recognize me. I was going to chalk it up to old age on their part until I saw me. I am depressed but determined to read Dr. Phil's book, which I've had for months, and put into action what all those people on his show are doing and losing. I am going to make some real commitments to myself. Anyone out there with me? I am 190 lbs 5'4" and want to be 140 lbs. My goal is 8-10 lbs a month starti ng April 1st, 2004. By september or October 2004 I will be at my goal. I need moral support. Please e-mail me at xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx if you can help. Thanks

Good for you! It sounds like you deifnately have a plan and goal in mind! I am also short (5 feet) and I saw a recent picture of myself and was so discouraged. However, I was motivated enough to realize I didn;t like what I saw. I have been reading the Dr. Phil book and have been on the diet for 3 days. So far so good! Are you still in the reading phase or have you started in on a diet? I know my doctor told me that weight loss varies for everybody, but that 1-2 pounds a week was a safe goal (so 4-8 pounds a month). DOn't get discouraged if you don't lose 8 pounds every month...hang in there!

Hi, I know exactly what you mean... I saw myself in some digital pics of my daughter's slumber party..... Not a good scene.
Sometimes things like that are just the motivation we need. For me, the biggest motivator is that I have NOTHING to wear! Except for the couple of pairs of pants I jsut bought. I tried on my summer shorts from last year --- not even past the hips. So, I've been making better choices on food for 10 days and I MAY have lost one pound. I gotta stop wirghing everyday!
Good luck, and it sounds like you're doing great. I LOVE Dr.Phil. Look forward to hearing how your progress goes!
