Default Been here before and now I am back

Hi everyone,

I am back to give this a whirl again. After half trying a million diets I think (since I turned 38) and now smart....lol That diets don't work. I am digging out my old BFL books and am starting challenge 1 on March 21. First day of spring, first day of my new healthy lifestyle. I don't hav a scanner so I can't post pictures but I do plan on putting up my stats on a regular basis. In the next few days I want to get my meals planned. Any good recipes for a starter??? My daily breakfast will always be (has been for the last 15 years) oameal, tea, milk and 2 egg whites. I normally add sugar but that is gone as of Sunday. Any suggestions will be appreciated. My stats in my signature will not be correct but I will post new ones on Sunday.
Thanks for listening and for any advise you can offer me.

Hi
Here's my suggestion: more protein in that breakfast unless you weigh less than 85 pounds! Try about 6-8 eggwhites. Seriously.

Please join us on the main thread

OMIGOSH! Are you a Maple Leaf Fan? I live with the Redwings but am a Predators fan. I actually don't know a lot about hockey but since I live in Michigan, I am having to learn. You can teach me.

Definitely join us on the main thread and do what Mel said. If you don't there WILL be consequences!

Tiki.

Just kidding!

Thank you all for the advise, I am going to do alot of reading over the next few days. Part of why I fail I think is because I wing it. I am going to try and schedule everything but bathroom breaks

Yes, I am a die hard leaf fan, although sometimes I don't admit that in public My favorite player however is my 11 year old daughter, I really enjoy watching her play. I will teach you everything you wanted to know about hockey and then some if you help me with this new lifestyle I have chosen

Thanks again

I can help with BFL as I'm just finishing up my 4th Challenge. One thing that I found key was coming up with a schedule for my 6 meals and sticking with it, give or take 15 minutes. I eat at 8am, 10:30am, 1pm, 3:30pm, 6:30pm and 9pm.

I also cook all of my meals on Sunday (2 or 3 entrees), and pack them up into individual servings for the entire week. That way there is never the "what am I going to eat" opportunity.

Meals 1 and 4 are Myoplex Lite shakes, 2 is cottage cheese and pineapple, 3 and 5 are the entrees I've cooked, and 6 is always oatmeal with chocolate protein powder.

You may want to consider buying yourself the "Eating for Life" cookbook, by Bill Phillips as well - lots of great recipes in there!

Good luck and let us know what we can do to help!
Cindy

PS - being a native Michigander, I am, of course, a Red Wings fan!

Poor Leaf fans! I lived in TO for 5 years and suffered through endless agonies watching the Leafs self-destruct. Now I live in Philadelphia were we can count on the Flyers to be in first place until the real season starts at play-off time!

Hockeychic,
After failing miserably on the SBD (took me a year of yo-yo-ing on/off it to finally stop torturing myself), I used the info on this thread & Maintainers & sat down to come up with the Anne-Plan, which is my plan for ME. I cannot tell you how easy it has been to stick to it, b/c its based on the foods I like (can't say love, or it wouldn't be healthy), but the foods I eat are foods I enjoy. Such as: cott cheese, chicken, ground turkey & bean chili, yogurt, prot. shakes, egg burritos & lots of seafood, veggies & fruits. I try to stick to 1300-1500 calories and I try to limit the processed grains, and only whole grains when I do eat them. I tell myself I can have anything I want to eat, but most of the time I choose not to eat "cheat" foods b/c i know how awful I feel after indulging & I find it very hard to get back on track. However, I cannot deprive myself or I will cheat, I know myself that way.

I'm sort of rambling, but I really connect with you on the "diets don't work" point and following my own plan is the only way I have been able to stick to it for more than 2 or 3 weeks at a time. (BTW, I feel awesome!!) If you like chili, I'll post my recipe. I think there is a recipe thread so I'll have to check it out.

Anne

I also agree with the idea of making your own plan. I know I read something recently (maybe in Real Simple?) that said a study was done that found that a high percentage of successful "dieters" were successful because they had adapted and personalized their plans. I wish I could find that blurb to share it. I'll look when I get home.

Editing to say, duh me, I don't think it wasn't anything in Real Simple. I think maybe I'm confused and it was an article here on 3FC somewhere. The only thing I see in Real Simple that I meant to share around here was a blurb about cinnamon being good for cholesterol levels.

Default Thanks

to everyone for the warm welcome and advise. I will have everything planned and read to go by Sunday. I am really looking forward to this.

Mel: Sorry don't have alot of good things to say about the Flyers, I use to be a big fan but I think Bobby Clarke is a ******* well can't say it here but I think as long as he is in control you won't see the cup in Philly. I am however a huge fan of John LeClair's. The only problem I see with Toronto is Pat Quinn they needed to get rid of him before this year as I think this is the last chance the leafs have for a cup for awhile as most of our impact players are getting a little long in the tooth. Depending on when you lived in Toronto, I think if you survived the Ballard days nothing is that bad......lol

Have a great day everyone.
