Default Happy Tuesday the 20th !

Good morning all!
It was a quiet and uneventful weekend - a nice holiday weekend for soldier and families.
I was on-call and fortunately after being up all night Thursday with a case the rest of the weekend was quiet.
Sadly, we send about 350 soldiers to the big sandbox last week. It's empty here. I can only pray that the Democrats prevail and make a significant foreign policy change. Enough politics.

Proud of myself, I am! Eight days on plan and four pounds gone! My DH bought an elliptical trainer for my personal home use and during the rainy dark German winter I can still work out!

It snowed briefly yesterday, but alas it was but a teaser. My mother in Minnesota announced that she and my father are snowbirding it to Pensacola for four weeks. I'm glad they are going. My father is recovering from back surgery and the warmth will do him much good. I only wish I could visit them!

Have a great day!

Good morning, Caroline, and congrats on your weight loss It's easier for me to follow SBD because I'm not hungry all the time like I was before. We had a quiet weekend, too, and now things get back to normal as the kids go back to school. I'm going to walk on the treadmill this morning.

Have a great day everyone!

Morning, Chicks!

Caroline, I remember the dark dreary German winters well! I lived in Berlin for almost 4 years when I was active duty USAF. Seems like we rode the shift bus in the dark no matter what shift we were on! Big congrats on staying on OP! Way to go!

Cassie, it sounds like you are doing really well, too! Keep up the exercise...it will pay off in so many ways!

Well, my youngest is home from school today...no water at the elementary school! It isn't really a problem since I don't have to work tonight so I'll only have to nap for a bit sometime today. Maybe he can help me color my hair and do the shopping, eh? Sounds like something every 8 year old would LOVE to do!

Ellis, I want to know what kind of paint you used that only took ONE COAT! I bought a good brand that was recommended by Consumer Reports, but I would love to find one that covered better. Granted, I was painting over cream colored walls, but still....primer and THREE COATS! I would love to avoid that hassle on the other walls!

Okay, I'm gearing up for my return to the Beach...really! Grocery shopping today, plus one last (at least for a while!) White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks. Then tomorrow I really will be back OP. Truly. Seriously. Enough goofin' around, right?

Well, I had better get productive. Not sure what I'll tackle first, as my TO DO list is frighteningly long....but I'll find something I can do while I keep one eye on Mack.

Cheers, Chicks!

Sflake....good to see you! We "cross posted" again! Glad you are feeling better...and especially your DH. And happy to see you are OP....check with me in a couple of days and I will be able to say the same! No comment for today!

Good morning!

Caroline, congratulations on the weight loss! I hope your Dad's back heals soon. Did you grow up in the States?

Cassie, great going on the treadmill! I wish I had one. But then I'd NEVER get to the Y.

Sflake, you're all better! I'm so glad, hon!

Franny, we used Sherwin Williams. It was really worth it paying a bit extra.
Best of luck with your youngest today. My DD is off to write her first exam this morning, but she'll be home all afternoon. (dang it) She's writing French, which is a breeze for her. If only her math and science were as strong.

Where's Ruthie? Is it my imagination, or is there a warmish wind blowing?

I was supposed to go the Y with Mom this morning, but she put it off until tomorrow. (yippeeeeeeeee!! )

Happy day, girls!

Wink Good Morning

Good Morning Chickies!
Hope everyone is happy & feeling good this lovely morning!
I am so excited...just 2 more days & I can begin Phase 2...Looking back, Phase 1 was not all that bad..after the cravings stopped that is!
But, really, it's not a tortorous plan to follow at all, and I am rarely hungry like I was with WW...must be all the protein.
I was so happy on Friday when I weighed in for the 1st time & saw that I dropped 7 lbs in my 1st week. I was very good all weekend, yet when I weighed in again yesterday, expecting at least 1 more pound..NOTHING!!!
Maybe I should wait to weigh in until friday again...
Any thoughts or advice?

Jan

Ruthie woke at 3 with sore joints and took three Advil! We all woke up at 7:20! Some sort of miracle.

Caroline, I too hope your troops can get out of that big sandbox. Ours are just next door, same as in real life. Geez, Pensacola sounds great to me about now!

Irishcoda, I'm glad SBD is working for you as far as not being hungry. I just had four slices of lean beef for breakfast and know that will hold me past noon.

Sflake, once again I'm glad to see you back and delighted that the family is getting better. No weather whining, please, or ellis and I will send you ours.

Jan, that was a great first week on SBD! Now try to keep off the scale until the end of this week! (I am a scale addict too.)

Frannymae, Sherwin Williams is good paint but painting with darker colours over light ones is tricky. The hardest thing for me is waiting 24 hours for the colour to even out. Sometimes you really don't need the seventh coat!

Ellis, give the Divine Miss M a hug from me. So your Mum has given you a reprieve from going to the Y? Don't they let you in without an adult with you? Hit me later.

Here it is 9:24 and I'm sittting here in bra and pants - not matching by the way. Can you tell that Kevin is not coming this morning? He is bogged with folks who have frozen pipes - IN THEIR HOUSES, ELLIS! - although it's been cold enough to freeze personal pipes too. Anyhow he is coming Thursday for sure which, in Kevinspeak, means maybe.

I'm going to do some cooking ahead this morning and a minor clean-up of dog fluff bunnies as the dog-hating SW comes this afternoon. What a contrast that will be from Karen who came to rehearse yesterday and spent most of the time letting Lucy lick her neck and ears! Now I'd never do that! Much!

Have a great Tuesday, everyone. And new chicks, please join in, even if it's just to say . Exits singing "Getting to know you"

Hi, all!

Jan.....in response to your question....don't weigh often. I know it's a temptation, but it gets to be discouraging if you do it daily. Our body is affected by so many things that less is best as far as weighing goes. Just stick to the progream, and you'll be fine! You're doing so well!!!

Sflake.....glad to hear that you and your family are all feeling well again! You have been in my thoughts and prayers.

Ellis.....no excuses. Get to the Y with or without mom! Bundle up. It's cold out there!

Jocaro.....I have to agree with you about the democrats. Let's hope for better days! Sounds like just the right thing for your parents. My DH and I are looking forward to spending the whole month of Feb. in a condo on the beach of Marco Island, Fla. Can't wait for those long walks on the beach and georgous sunsets. It's about 5 degrees F. here today!

I'm off to the gym Chickies to get in my hour of fitness! Not too easy to brave the cold, but I'm going anyway! Uh-huh, I will!!!!

More cleaning of closets, and my file cabinet junk in store for me today. Also, the laundry room is calling me!
Have a great day, Chickies,
Sharon
P.S. Last night I made a great stuffed red pepper using LF ground beef, chopped onion, and a handfull of wild rice. Very tasty with roasted asparagus! Yum!!

Damn! I just moved Roseblush's question to its own thread, and I think I accidentally deleted someone else's post. I'm so sorry.

Default Good Morning Everyone!

Congrats on you loss January. That's fantastic. I lost 4 pounds this week.

There are 2 sides to every argument, and ladies this is mine.
I do weigh myself every morning. I use a program called weight commander. Where you enter your weight every day and it graphs it for you. It keeps track forevor and say if Thursdays tend to be your worst mornings for weigh-in over the past 12 weeks. It will pop up with a message on Wed that says be careful today and explains the reason why. Plus. not only does it show you your past and keeps a running calculation of pounds lost for the last 7 days to help you get through those "bad" days it also shows you the future. It tells you if you keep going at the pace you're at, in 30 days you'll weigh this in 60 days this and in 90 days this. i find it VERY encouraging. I used to do the once a week weigh-in, but I found myself on like tues and wed going "oh, it's ok I can cheat and eat this because I'll still have 4 days or 5 days (whatever #) to get on track and I can still lose by weigh-in on Monday. This program makes me not cheat because I know I'll see the fruits of my cheating the next day! I realize that this type of approach isn't right for everyone. And I know that if I didn't use this program it wouldn't be right for me either, but I know that with it, I will have an easier time sticking to my diet. Because I can see my goal right there in front of me.

The shareware program has all kinds of other cool features. If you want to see what I'm talking about go to www.weightcommander.com
After reading about it you can download and use for free for 2 weeks and if you decide you like it can pay a one-time charge of $9.95 to keep it. I know I sound like a salesman but I REALLY like this program.

Sorry for the long post guys. Have a great day!
Oh, and heah I found a great recipe link. Enjoy! www.ptyza.com/pamstuff/lowcook.htm

Mark me down as an everyday weigher inner. I personally think that it helps me much like Jennie527's commander. If I see I'm up I take it easy the next day. As with most things you have to find what is best for you.

Sharon I'm soooo jealous, A whole month in florida how very nice. Good luck with the sorting & cleaning sweetie... 30 years worth

Ellis what do u think of getting rid of our stoves then at least I'd have an excuse as to why I can't cook.

Hey girls, lookey me...I actually gave a cooking tip to roseblush, will wonders ever cease I'm off for lunch

Hey everyone-

had an up and down weekend, and did not get much time to myself. Oh well. Yesterday all the kiddos went back to the other parents so I took the opportunity to rest and then took a ton of pop cans back to the store for my refund, and I still have a ton more to take.

I was kind of bad on the eating end of it to. Sat/Sun I splurged on no-no ice cream late night and was doing good last night until I went to my moms for one thing and realized it was my sis's b-day. Long story short, my dad brought home a cherry cheesecake. I told her she should be thankful and bow down to me cause I was commiting a huge sin just for her to celebrate. She laughed at me.

Today is going well, been more active and thinking less about food. Very foggy morning. So foggy you could cut the air with a butter knife. Normally I would not mind, but it was hard to see the kids on my route this morning and safety was a huge stresser this morning.

Other than that picked up ds and took him for an overdue haircut. Now I am at home and probably will pack some more. We sign and get the keys to our new house tommorow, I am pumped!

Jocaro- way to go on those pounds lost!

Franny- I colored my hair this weekend, it looks really good and I feel better about myself. Funny how that happens. My 7 year old thought it was fun to help me, she was my official wiper. She wiped all the drips. Hopefully they get the water working again at your ds's school.

Jennie- that sounds like a really good program, thanks for sharing. I am a once a week weigher. I try hard to resist the urge to weigh every day though.

To every one else -HELLO! Everyone have a wonderful, awesome OP day! Will try and check in and chat tonight after swim class.

Hey again, Chicks! Just woke up from a nap. My DS snuggled up and read while I dozed. He finished Matilda by Roald Dahl....very proud of himself! Would you believe that he already has a "favorite author?" (the aforementioned Roald Dahl) It cracks me up!

I had to "weigh in" on the weighing in issue. Boy, that was a mouthful! I tend to weigh daily, and had started to chart my weight and body fat percent on graph paper! Sounds a lot like Weight Commander, eh?

Speaking of, hey Jennie! Jennie and I are neighbors! We must live only about 2 or 3 miles apart! How cool is that!?

Well, off to the grocery...at long last. Hopefully I can avoid the bakery isle and stick to the list. Gotta get back in practice

Cheers!
