Default Boot Camp Challenge Day 40-Water Works!

Good morning, troops! Getting a late start on my Monday, as my sleep schedule has been all goofed up over the weekend.

It seems as if we all want to continue to drink plenty of water regardless of what experts may or may not say about it! So, how are we going to do that?

What works for you? Let's hear it...I want all your best suggestions and ideas for getting our water intake.

Here are my strategies:

Restaurant water: Just like at a restaurant...a goblet with ice water and lemon wedges!

Tit for tat: I love my decaf coffee when I get up, so I drink one glass of water for every cup of coffee.

Make it easy: We have a water cooler in the kitchen. I used to keep a 2 gallon container in the fridge but found it took up so much space and had to be refilled pretty often. So we got a water cooler. It isn't very expensive, and I find we ALL drink more water when it is so accessible.

Here is a link I found with some suggestions on how to increase your water intake:

http://www.ivillage.com/diet/feature...a=adid=6265659

Group Activity for Week of 10/5-115 minutes. This doesn't include some minutes people were planning but hadn't finished, so get your minute in!

I'm off to do an hour on the treadmill and to lift weights. I actually thought about skipping today as I got such a late start, but I COME FIRST! Before the laundry, before the dishes, before the carpet covered with dog hair! Now that shows a major shift in attitude!

Have a great day! And drink your water!

Thanks, Franny... that website had some great suggestions!

I have a big, beautiful green wine glass that holds at two or three cups of water. I'll use that because it makes me happy.

We have a large Brita that hangs on the inside of our fridge door. With a tap on it. It's GREAT! One of my DD's friends was over the other day. When he saw it, he went into ecstatics... "Oh! I LOVE fridge water!"

Worked out for an hour at the gym today, and I'll be doing an hour and a half of yoga this evening.

I definitely find that I feel better and release pounds quicker when I drink my water!! Thanks for the website franny!

I've spoiled myself by driking bottled water, and now can't stand the taste of tap water. I started last spring when our city tap water tasted icky during the spring thaw (they always add extra chemicals in the spring during the thaw because the water gets more gunky), and I ended up asking myself why was I taking in those unnecessary chemicals! So at home and at work, I drink only bottled water. It gets a little expensive, but is less expensive than all the diet coke or mountain dew that I used to drink, so it's a fair trade-off. I keep myself stocked up with plain and flavored water, and it's easy to keep track of how much I'm drinking in a day. I have 24 ounce bottles at home, and buy 20 ounce bottles at work, so just count the number of bottles that I empty in a day.

Pvt. Lizzie checking in. A bit early for me. Walked this a.m. 25min. went to Curves, 30 min. and plan to bike ride tonight, 30min.
I drink very few other beverages but water. Coffee only if we go out, and tea now and again, but it is always water with lemon. I also have some flavored water I got at Sams Club and drink that for a change. I just try to have water in front of me wherever I am whatever I am doing. We have filters on our tap water, one outside the house, and then another one on the tap. So it gets a double whammy.

Twodog: I'd drink bottled water too, if our tap water tasted yucky.

Hi everyone. Have a good rest of the day. Lizzie

I don't like our tap water too much, but someone got us a water purifying pitcher thing that I keep in the fridge, it's a pain to refill it, but I like the taste of the water better -- mostly because it's colder than when it comes out of the faucet, and I have a thing for cold water. I've been trying to drink 80 oz of water a day, and I usually do pretty good, but this weekend I didn't drink one drop! I had a 20 oz Diet Pepsi Vanilla and a mug of herbal tea. I think it's harder for me to stick to water and exercise on weekends, too many distractions -- but I'm back on it today! I'm working out tonight, I'm going to do 30 min on the elliptical and 20 min on the bowflex, but I'll check back in later to confirm. Just in case something comes up. :-D

Sarge Franny
I did a 30 minute exercise tape yesterday, and an hour of vbrisk walking today.

I have my coffee in the morning to get me started, but drink nothing else but water all day long. I always consume at least 64 oz. daily. I keep a bottle with me at, in my purse for when I'm shopping, and in the car. At home, I like a slice of lemon in mine at mealtime in a pretty glass. That makes it a little special . I guess water is a habit....but a good one!

Have a great day on the Beach, everyone!

Reporting from my hotel room... why is it always SO much harder to do the very same workout away from home?!?!

35 minutes on the elliptical

Gave my very sore muscles a rest today - I really tore 'em up yesterday

Hope I can stay on track all week while I'm on the road!!! I didn't drink *any* water during the 4 hour car ride, so as soon as I checked in I drank 3 full glasses of water to get back on track w/H20.

Great job, everyone! All this hard work and water drinking has GOT to be great for us!

Hello All,
I am joining a gym tomorrow and am a little nervous. I work next to a college and membership to their gym is quite reasonable. Several of the women that I work with go there and have invited me to join them right after work. Also our janitor is a personal trainer who has offered to include me in his group rate. I have no excuse to not go so why am I so nervous??? Maybe I don't want to look like a fool. All of these college kids and the middle aged fat women.. But I'm gonna grit my teeth and do it. Wish me luck............Julie

I did ride bike tonight for 45 minutes so that will be added to my walking and session at Curves.

I think we are quite a group. Lizzie

Good going, girls!

Julie, you'll soon get used to the gym. EVERYONE feels that way at first. Just remember... you're there for YOU! Not to impress anyone else. It's your party.

Got my 2 1/2 hours of exercise in today. And I drank a shipload of water. Tomorrow I'm resting.
