Default so. much. temptation.

my brother and my dad are sugar FIENDS. my brother lives off of french fries and pizza (not judging btw bc his pizza and fries are ******* DELICIOUS) and my dad lives off sweets and sandwiches.
im obviously tryna change my eating habits for WL purposes, but its so hard for me to not hyperfocus on the sweets we have in the kitchen! for example: my mom got these lovely little tea biscuits and they’re sitting in a ziploc bag in the cupboard and im just obsessing over them!!
sometimes im good at distracting myself, other times i become a sugar vacuum lol

(ik the world doesnt revolve around me, people are allowed to eat whatever tf they want, this is just a little annoyance of mine while im on this journey)

First off, LOVE your profile pic.

Second, that must be tough. I'm currently trying to lose about 90 pounds and social pressures to overeat are enormous. How do you distract yourself? I've never been very good at it, I try reading and can't read more than five pages at a time, try watching a movie and unless I'm eating can't seem to focus. I bought a paint by number but can't get myself to paint for more than a few minutes. I'm also trying to write a novel (about the struggle everyone on this site is familiar with) but I definitely can't work on it for more than an hour at a time and it's taken me two years to write 80 pages.

first i wanna say i love the fact that ur writing a novel!! it seems super difficult, my writing is piss poor so the fact that u have 80 pages written is hella impressive to me

as for the distractions, sometimes they work and sometimes they dont. one that i use a lot is just listening to music and pacing around my room LOL it makes me look like a maniac but being in constant motion can sorta help me forget about food. another thing i do is go on pinterest bc i like looking at pretty photos and i can probably spend hours just sorting things into my pinterest boards. this one may not be super accessible, but i find that playing my guitar is a good way for me to distract myself from food/curb binge urges. i become so focused on perfecting a song or my technique that i forget why i even started playing in the first place. this might not help tho if u dont have a guitar/any instrument near u obviously lol

i personally think more “active” distractions help the most. doing something with ur hands or ur whole body may help u resist any temptation

It was very difficult for me to change my eating habits, but I eat much better now than I did before. I really love sweets, but I’ve given them up. Thanks to DoMyPaper’s domypaper.com help with my diploma, I now have time to cook homemade meals for myself. I also make delicious but healthy desserts that satisfy my sweet tooth and serve as a great substitute for traditional sweets.

I get it, its super annoying when you're trying to lose weight and people around make it harder I had a sister who loved fast food and boy was she annoying about it, but in the end it all worked out so I'm positive it'll work out for you too, spoken from experience

It can be really tough to focus on weight loss when sweets and snacks are always around. It’s completely normal to struggle with cravings, especially when loved ones enjoy all the tempting food right next to you!You are doing great by staying mindful and trying to find ways to cope without giving in all the time. One idea that might help is intermittent fasting — it can reduce cravings and improve self-control over time. You can read more about it here: Intermittent Fasting for Men Over 50.Stay strong — you’re not alone on this journey!
