Old Alvin went to his PCP today and got a good report, at least until the blood work comes back. But the bad news was that he wants his to have a colonoscopy. He said now that he was small enought he need to have one, he said there are a few negative sides to loosing weight.
One thing that I am wondering about is: do any of you have problems with being cold since your surgery? Alvin is having a problem with it and talking to the girl at church who has also had WLS said she has the same problem. I don't rememb er any of you talking about that.
cold??? YES YES YES!!!!! i always have a light shawl around. part of the reason, so i've been told, is that there's a whole lot less insulation, but also that we've actually forced our bodies into starvation mode and the metabolism wants to slow down, but the rearrangement won't let it.
not sure how accurate that last statement is, but that's what i've heard from others.
Cold that is not the question. I AM FREEZING. For some one that was always HOT and I mean HOT this is so unnormal for me. It could be 75 outside and I am wrapped up like an eskimo. I can't wait till winter. not sure what I am going to do. Fla here I come to bad we are not retired yet. Love Grammy
Me too !!
When I went from over 300 lbs down to 150 - 170 COLD BURRR. My hands were like ice all the time, my rings would spin because my hands would never swell.
Can't wait to get back there
Do any of you have muscle cramps? I am taking Calcium w/Magnesium pills, 2,400 mg day and my one leg at the bottom is crampy ? Could it be I need more water ?
I'm so excited, 3FC's has just put an Atkins board here
I do not have any muscle cramps except when I am on my feet to much but I had them before the surgery. I am told that they are due to the High blood pressure pills and the Chorlestal pill. I just deal with them. Grammy
I know this is kinda off the current subject, but I just got and appointment for my first counseling session. I go to Hershey no later then the 4th of November (my birthday, lol). They said that I may even be able to get in as soon as the 7th of October!!!! Then after the session I will set up an appointment for the doc. I asked the receptionest how long from start to finish and she said that it is usually 3-6 months from the first session! They just hired a whole bunch of new docs and all the other people for the process. So that is good. I can't wait.
I'm so excited!! I can't wait for the first appointment! I now have hopes of having the operation and being all healed by the time my hubby is home.
Well that's about all for me right now, but I just wanted to share!!
Bella, I remember how exciting it was for the consult and the excitement just frows and grows. Congratulations and keep posting. You will find lots of support here. Grammy
Bella! ! Good luck at all your pre-op appts! !
It is exciting and nervewracking as well going through this stage, and then the hurry up and wait process of it all.
Today (Wednesday) my family and the in-laws are about to hike around Mt. Baker. Can't wait! ! ! We do this every year and it's so beautiful Being around 40 pound lighter this year should make things a little easier as well for me! ! !
Hey Girls, I got one for you! I am 53 and after my last period was over(befoer Surgery) I stopped the Pill. I have not had a period. No,I have not been exposed Could the pill been giving me a false period(I heard that in some health mag.) Did surgery push me through menopose????/MB
marybeth.. you won't be so lucky. at least not yet!!! first, after going off the pill , it takes the body a while to reregulate the hormones. thrown in the trauma of surgery and the rapid weigh loss, and your hormones are in SHOCK. as you lose fat and the stored estrogen is released, your period will return. trust me on that. and maybe MAYBE if you're about to enter menopause. it'll really stop.
Oh S--- jiffypop! you just burst my bubble I was so hoping it had just gone away for good.
AND one nurse at the hospital just wanted to let me know that her Aunt had the WLS and had her first child at 52!
Now I'm running as fast as I can from the Repairman LOL
