Default Chat-WLS week of Sept 22

Old Alvin went to his PCP today and got a good report, at least until the blood work comes back. But the bad news was that he wants his to have a colonoscopy. He said now that he was small enought he need to have one, he said there are a few negative sides to loosing weight.

One thing that I am wondering about is: do any of you have problems with being cold since your surgery? Alvin is having a problem with it and talking to the girl at church who has also had WLS said she has the same problem. I don't rememb er any of you talking about that.

Not much else going on here.

cold??? YES YES YES!!!!! i always have a light shawl around. part of the reason, so i've been told, is that there's a whole lot less insulation, but also that we've actually forced our bodies into starvation mode and the metabolism wants to slow down, but the rearrangement won't let it.

not sure how accurate that last statement is, but that's what i've heard from others.

no matter what.. yes. we're colder.

Me too !!
When I went from over 300 lbs down to 150 - 170 COLD BURRR. My hands were like ice all the time, my rings would spin because my hands would never swell.

Can't wait to get back there

Do any of you have muscle cramps? I am taking Calcium w/Magnesium pills, 2,400 mg day and my one leg at the bottom is crampy ? Could it be I need more water ?

I'm so excited, 3FC's has just put an Atkins board here

Barb, from what I understand being cold is one complaint after wls. I don't get anywhere near as hot as I used to, except when I have my hot flashes.

John is always cold, never was before? That is a strange one that all of you also have it.

Do any of you have muscle cramps? John also has had problems with muscle cramps.

I do not have any muscle cramps except when I am on my feet to much but I had them before the surgery. I am told that they are due to the High blood pressure pills and the Chorlestal pill. I just deal with them. Grammy

Hi all,

I know this is kinda off the current subject, but I just got and appointment for my first counseling session. I go to Hershey no later then the 4th of November (my birthday, lol). They said that I may even be able to get in as soon as the 7th of October!!!! Then after the session I will set up an appointment for the doc. I asked the receptionest how long from start to finish and she said that it is usually 3-6 months from the first session! They just hired a whole bunch of new docs and all the other people for the process. So that is good. I can't wait.

I'm so excited!! I can't wait for the first appointment! I now have hopes of having the operation and being all healed by the time my hubby is home.

Well that's about all for me right now, but I just wanted to share!!

Thanks for letting me do a good vent!

Bella! ! Good luck at all your pre-op appts! !
It is exciting and nervewracking as well going through this stage, and then the hurry up and wait process of it all.

Today (Wednesday) my family and the in-laws are about to hike around Mt. Baker. Can't wait! ! ! We do this every year and it's so beautiful Being around 40 pound lighter this year should make things a little easier as well for me! ! !

marybeth.. you won't be so lucky. at least not yet!!! first, after going off the pill , it takes the body a while to reregulate the hormones. thrown in the trauma of surgery and the rapid weigh loss, and your hormones are in SHOCK. as you lose fat and the stored estrogen is released, your period will return. trust me on that. and maybe MAYBE if you're about to enter menopause. it'll really stop.
