Default TFL - Week of September 15, 2003

Good morning everyone!

It's a dreary Monday morning here--rainy & dark. Not my favorite weather. I'd much rather be at home snuggled up in bed!

The weekend went pretty well--our flight was delayed in Detroit due to storms in the Chicago area so instead of getting in at 5 p.m. we didn't get in until 8 p.m. *sigh* so much for having a relaxing evening. I'm not a big fan of the Detroit airport as there's not a whole lot to do and things are so spread out. My eating was pretty good on Saturday; Sunday could have been better. I'm hoping the walking around the airports, Chicago, etc. will balance things out.

DH went out and bought a bushel of Roma tomatoes--guess what I'm doing tonight!

Domina: I know what you mean about your friend being in OH and you in FL; my best friend is in FL and I'm here in PA *sigh* we talk a lot on the phone and we're planning a get together in the Spring--at least it's something to look forward to.

How was everyone's weekend? Did you get to do anything interesting?

Hi Melissa. The weekend was quiet for me. Beautiful weather, but I was stricken with every allergy symptom known to man, so didn't get to enjoy it much...sigh.

Weighed in on Saturday and was down 1.8 lbs. Then proceeded to overeat to the point that my flexpoints for the week are gone..double sigh.

I've decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and get back to a more reasonable WOE for the rest of the week. I might be able to pull off a 1 lb. loss if I'm careful.

How's everyone else doing?

Where is everyone?

I had a good OP day yesterday. Must admit that it's hard sticking to just 20 points per day but that's what I have left following my little snackfest on the weekend. Oh well, it forces me to be creative as well as to eat lots of veggies.

Melissa: Did you take care of all those tomatoes last nite? How is DS#1 doing in his new surroundings?

Domina: How wonderful that your friend has experienced such weight-loss success. Now would be a great time for you to plan a get-together and do some celebrating!

lala: Comment ca va a Paris? Je vous souhaite un bon voyage.

Hi to austingal, scoutruns, laurel, patch and any other long-lost lifers. Come back - we need your support!

Hi everyone.

Well, this past weekend was my parents' 50th anniversary celebration which I planned. 75 people were there. It's too bad we don't lose weight when we're stressed. Actually, all of the stressing was before the event. The renewal of vows and the dinner were just great. We had a wonderful time.

I did not watch my eating at all because I said I would get back on track this week. I did exercise, though. I had two pieces of delicious tiramisu (yum).

I hope all of you northeasterners are not affected by Isabel. We were a little concerned here last week when it looked like it was headed this way.

Hi everyone!

Susan: Congrats on the loss! No, I didn't do all the tomatoes last evening...just about half of them; I got 12 quarts and 4 pints. Tonight will be round 2. DH is great about helping and I've learned a few tricks along the way. I just core and cut the tomatoes and then toss into the processor. The skins have lots of vitamins/fiber so I figure it won't hurt anything. DS #1 seems to be adjusting well to college life. He says that his teachers are good and that he's glad that he was pushed like he was in hs because it's helping him a lot.

Domina: Glad to hear that the party went well! We're supposed to get the rain from Isabel over the weekend (Saturday) which means that'll be a good day to do indoor work.

The board has been pretty quiet...I wonder where Scoutruns, Austingal, Laurel, and the others have wandered off to?

I admit that having 20 for a target makes me plan more and be more creative with my meals. I'm finding I'm working in more veggies and low point foods to fill me up. I've used up some of my FlexPoints this week.

Weather is gorgeous here today--70 and sunny, no humidity--so I'm out for a nice walk at noon. Working at WW this evening so I won't get home until 7:30.

Update 9/17/03:
Went to my meeting today at noon and was UP, yes up, 2.6# this week! I still can't believe it! I did well with walking and keeping track; the only thing that sticks out is that maybe I had to much processed food or something. I do feel tired and that doesn't help. My first instinct was to grab some fries or something equally bad *sigh* but I didn't; I have my soup and am plotting my course of action. Taking the hit and moving on...

Hi, Melissa: sorry to hear about your gain; is it TOM?

I hope Isabel doesn't hit you too badly. It's done wonders here; the humidity is lower and we have sunshine. We haven't had much of that this summer.

This weekend will be another challenge as we have a party on Saturday night and a cookout on Sunday night. Oh, we are so popular!!

bonjour mes amies,

I am back from Paris and short of a few food blips, I think I did pretty well....

The weather was absolutely spectacular. Wow, Indian Summer big time, the fact that Paris is soo far west in the time zone means that its dark much later and we took advantage of this.

We did lots of walking, and usually taking one before and after dinner. As much as I love the Paris Metro, I love walking in Paris even better...

I did tweak my neck out big time, so when we check into our other hotel, I had a nice massage. Next time I stay there, I suppose over some weekend in January with my Dearest, I'll book another. It was heavenly.

We ate at some great places, one really dissappointing one (good location, neat place, but mediocre food). Most of our dinners were about 35 Euros /pp including wine and dessert. When you think that in NYC or DC, we spend that much on an entree, I think we did okay.

Taller half was exceedingly patient as I went purse shopping. Note to self: Look at closet, coats and accessories prior to going purse shopping.

Anyways, I am home for a few weeks. My parents just sold the villa lala and now need me to go to San Diego and help them find something else, why can't these things be done on the internet?

Okay...\

Domina -- wow! 50th anniversary party. You are soo nice. I'm sure your parents loved it. I love the idea they renewed their vows.

Melissa -- Can I tell you that that is travel weight? Its a known fact, the further you travel the more you gain, its water, it'll be gone. Drink lots of water, the food on the road is exceedingly salty.

I was also affected on my way to Paris, spent a few hours in San Antonio on my way to Dallas to catch my Paris flight. Ended up getting rebooked, didn't like my seats , made them rebook me through London and I had to use my own miles to get to Paris. Turns out they found me seats and we didn't have to go through London. It was an ugly travel day on Thursday.

Seesaw -- I should really write up my trip report and give you the details. Looks like you are back on your path to clean living.

Everyone else, please write and call! I'll journal for today and until I leave again. I really don't want to post a gain next week!

Good morning!

It's a dreary, rainy, windy day here in PA. We're getting hit with the remnants of Isabel. So much for a good hair day!

Domina: I shouldn't be gaining for TOM already, but then again my body has been doing some weird things lately. I'm not due until the 30th. I like Lala's explanation--travel weight!

Lala: It sounds like you had a good trip and that you got lots of activity in--good for you! I, like you, want to have a good weigh in next week and I'm working at it.

I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend--I'm hoping to put some Flylady tactics into action and fling stuff I really don't need. I've also had a rug cleaner sitting in my dining room waiting to be used and this weekend would be the opportune time to use it. I only have 2 things on the agenda--Saturday the boys have bowling and Sunday I'm working the morning WW meeting. DH and I may take a ride into Ohio to check out a tea room. Other than that I don't have much other than the usual housework type things.

On a positive note, I had 2 people I work with tell me I look good and that I've lost weight--that really gave me a boost, especially since I felt so disgruntled about the WI on Wednesday.

Anyone have any plans this weekend?

Melissa: I, too, like the comment about travel weight. That's one to remember.

That used to happen to me a lot when I was in the losing mode. I would post a gain and be somewhat upset and then I would get some compliments. It did tend to perk me up and give me the gumption to get going.

The tea room sounds interesting. Let us know how it is.

As I said yesterday, we're just party animals this weekend: party (friend's new house) on Sat. and cookout on Sun.

I also have rehearsal on Sun. for a play I'm in.

Hello to lala, Susan, Austingal, et al

Hi everyone,

Melissa, I hope that you are okay, looks like Isobel's tracks are pretty far reaching.

Domina - Party on girl, though I have a feeling that you are not going to end up on the 11 o clock news for party animal antics.

How is your new job?

Melissa -- I'm with you and the flyladying this weekend. I'm going to do a closet purge in the basement and a reorganization of the pantry. I give both these activities one hour each. I'm going to try and finish painting the bookshelf in our basement bedroom too!

Darling partner's flight to DC tonight was cancelled and her plans to see our friend in Philly were kaboshed. She will leave on the Sunday night redeye instead. I'll be happy to have her home for the weekend and so will the dog.

Every thing else will be mellow here I hope. It rained hard last night and it looks like Monday night will be a mowing night for me.

Have a great weekend all!
