Question SBD & fast food...

Is there any fast food that is okay for SBD? I'm a fast food junkie & I'm trying to find ways to eat out but stay on the plan.

Any suggestions? TIA

Remember it should be baked, broiled or boiled. leam meat and done in canola or virgin oil.
Salads, but watch what you put on it and the dressing.
Sugar needs to be <4 grams.
Use your own knowledge of the foods list and what NOT to have.

Fast food is very processed and not very SBD friendly. Your cravings should go away after the first couple of weeks. Once in a while would be ok but don't overdue it.

McDonalds premium salads ... even my 16 year old son gets those instead of a quarter pounder with cheese ... warm grilled chicken and low fat dressing ...

I confess, I was a McDonald's junkie! LOL I was eating fast food at least 3 times per week. Now (day 13 of phase 1), I don't even want it anymore. But to answer your question.... dh is also on the beach (not very strict, more for support for me), and since he had to get something quick on his lunchbreak, he would get the grilled chicken ceasar at McD's. He has lost 4 or 5 lbs still. Stick with salads!

I have stayed away from fast food places for a while now. And I can't eat anybody else's salads except the ones I make. For some strange reason they put too much stuff on it than I would eat.

Default Baja Fresh!!!

Where I live in Caifornia we have really great alternative fast food choices. We have this fast food place called Baja Fresh. They make great salads with romaine lettuce, tomato salsa and they cover them with either grilled chicken, steak, shrimp or fish. They sprinkle a bit of cojita cheese and I order it without the tortilla strips. It has 17 carbs...it also has the nutritional content on their website.

Also, Subway salads, KooKoo Roo, El Pollo Loco are all local places that offer grilled chicken, salads, vegetables.

Single ---I just noticed that your in So. California, so these are great alternatives for you!!! Rubios also has a great grilled salad as well.

Every Friday night my DH brings home dinner...usually something I won't eat, like hot wings! So every Friday night I go though Wendy's drive through and get a salad! I really like their salads a lot...Southwestern Chicken Caesar is my current fav!

Aren't those Wendy's salads made with breaded chicken meat? I didn't know if that was a good choice or not?

no - all of Wendy's salads are made with grilled chicken breast

at McDonalds - you can choose either breaded or grilled chicken.

Thanks Emily for the reply.

Is that a red-headed baby in the pic? Reminds me of my 13 yr old. His hair is that color. I now have a 13 mo. old and his hair is light brown. They are 12 yrs apart! Doc says I probably wouldn't have anymore after the first one. What does he know?

We were thrilled with our little miracle as much as our first one.

yes - she is a red-headed baby - about 14 months old -

she's not mine, but the closest thing i have to my own right now

getting married next march and then we will wait a few years until we have one.

She is one of my dear friend's only child - I'm basically one of her "Aunties" - her mom calls me "Auntie Em"

funny thing is - when she was born, she had this red hair everywhere except one patch on her head that was blonde!! i love that little girl!!

wow - congrats on the new little one - what does your 12-year old think about a baby brother?

just out of curiosity (i noticed your username) - do you home school your children? My fiance and I are considering that when we have kids. if so, how is it working out for you?

Thanks!

Hi Emily,

Yes, I do homeschool. My oldest is in the 8th grade and we have been homeschooling from the beginning. He is very involved with our church youth group so we feel like he gets his socialism from a better source than in public school.

It's a little harder to homeschool with a baby, but it is not impossible. That's one thing about them being so far apart. I won't be schooling them both except for one year. When my oldest is a senior, my baby will be in kindergarten! Then I get to start over!

I do know people that homeschool 3 or more kids at one time at all different levels. I guess you just adapt to whatever you have to do.

My son loves his baby brother. He never liked being an only child.

Good luck with SBD. I have lost 8 pounds so far, but it is slow. It is now about 1 pound a week. Have you gone into phase 2? I haven't really left phase 1. I guess I'm scared I'll gain back what I've lost.

I'm not much of a fast food eater. Much rather cook at home or

eat at a nice restaurant. However, if I had the great choices that

Rowan Bailey has there in So. Calif., I think I would change my

ways!!!! Those fresh salads you have there sound delicious!
