Good Thursday morning from green and slightly waterlogged Delta. The dogyard is a lake once again and looks like a rice paddy! This has to be the wettest summer on record! Nobody is complaining about their well running dry which is the usual August gripe! They are complaing about their docks and boats floating away in the very high lake water levels.
Chally, welcome to South Beach. I don't know if any of the current members have ordered from SBD online which is actually Nutrisystem. As you can tell from our recipe section, most of us cook from scratch.
Beth, the storm and power outage caught me in the dentist chair mid-perio treatment. The technician was able to finish (good generator) but was unable to take photos or enter the date into the computer. She made up for it by giving a fluoride treatment which meant I couldn't eat dinner for two hours.
Jennifer, quinoa salad sounds great. I may make it for dinner tonight. Cooked cukes might be interesting.
Debbie, with all the talk of school, I am starting to feel a tad "Septemberish" and moving into fall mode in small ways. I was crabbing to B. yesterday that my fall mums were slow to bloom. Then he pointed out that it is barely mid-August. Get a grip, Ruthie. We've really not had summer yet.
We are leaving shortly for a luxury cruise on the St Lawrence from Brockville through the 1000 Islands, with lunch served on board by B's rich friend's steward. Should be interesting. I understand that champagne and smoked salmon will be served. I've met this guy only once at our wedding and he and his wife seemed really friendly so it should be fun. The cruise is our wedding gift and the day looks custom-made for the adventure.
Have a delightful Hump Day!
