Good morning. We had a glorious week and the weekend is looking pretty springlike too although without the 85ºF temps we had Thursday. It was so nice to get outside and do a bit of gardening yesterday.
Weight was down a bit this morning, probably because I ate very carefully yesterday. It helped to be busy and to know that all eyes would be on Bruce and me at his volunteer award presentation last night which was followed by champagne and other goodies. The remains of the shrimp pilaf are now stashed in the freezer for quick suppers.
Hope everyone is able to stick on plan. Sure wish we could all get together in person and kvetch.
I think we're coming to the end of workers here preparing us for summer. As we speak the water tanker is out there filling up the pool. Hubby had to drain it completely - harder than you know, and scrubbed it all out. The furniture is here and it's beautiful. We had some wine last night sitting outside enjoying the beautiful weather. Sometimes it feels like we live for 5 months in gray skies, so it felt glorious to finally have sun. My rose bushes are in full bloom right now.
I made it through a 30 minute spin class yesterday. Phew doggie! Today I'm going to walk on the treadmill for an hour, check in with Gilmore Girls.
I lost a lot of weight this past week, so I'm glad to see things moving along. I wasn't stuck, but things were slower before.
We are getting rained out, and still have today and tomorrow with more rain, areas are already flooding. Guess DD's and I will not be going for a hike this morning. I need to clean house and do laundry and get some more op groceries for the week.
Ruth glad you are getting some spring like weather.
We are also enjoying lovely spring like weather. Pearlrose, my agenda looks like yours today (laundry going right now!) but hope to sneak in time for a walk a little later.
Amy, I'm excited for your weight loss and your projects. How satisfying to see your weight move down again!
Ruth, it's hard to be the one thinking about eating healthy when someone else isn't. And yes! How can we teleport all the chicks to a morning coffee gabfest???
Hope everyone has a great day. Remember to take a few minutes for yourself.
No much in the agenda today, I'm doing laundry and cleaning the house today. Last night, I baked a pound lemon cake for the family and I kept telling myself that I would not have a piece, however today I did have a big piece I can't complaint it tasted pretty good and I really enjoy it. Now I need to make sure I just keep my meals as planned, during the weekends is very hard for me since DH is home and he loves to cook and munch all day. The weather here is very hot 92F but it feels way much hotter.
Yesterday for lunch, I made lentil chicken stew. I only ate 1 cup and the only ingredients I used were lentils, carrots, spinach, chicken broth, and chicken breast, I added a little bit of salt because the broth was unsalted. For some reason after lunch I had the worse cravings ever. I thought my cravings were only when I eat pasta, bread, or sweets. Anyhow, the lentils were delicious and I have tons of leftovers in the freezer, but now I'm not sure if I should eat them
Hmmm I posted while on lunch at work....I wonder where I posted it lol. Finally sitting down to dinner. forced myself to get a ride in after work. I'm not as fast as I have been in previous years. Tomorrow I am going back to my original riding shoes. I actually think they make a difference. It has to do with the stiffness index. The higher the stiffness the greater your power out put is.
Amy great job in the spin class and kudos on your weight loss.
Pearlrose were you able to get any outdoor time in today?
Ruth hopefully when things settle down you and Bruce will find an eating style that works for both of you.
Isa Ive been doing this for a few years and cravings still get me at times. I don't think lentils would be a trigger. But I could be wrong, our bodies crave weird things at times. Maybe try the soup again later in the week.
Beth it was gorgeous here this afternoon. I was thrilled my landscaper came while I was at work.
Tomorrow I'll get another ride in and some errands before going to Joe's. My son's tool box will be delivered hopefully on Monday. An old boss was storing it for him. SInce it and the tools are very expensive I would feel better if it was here. Time to put my feet up and relax.
Good morning from slightly chilly Delta - it's cold this morning but maybe that will knock off the little black flies that appeared yesterday! When we look forward to Spring, we tend to forget the pests. Coming soon ... mosquitoes and deerflies!
Had a great night with my crazy Book Club friends who also clean up and load the dishwasher. Can't complain about friends like that! It was the first time some of them met Bruce and he charmed them all. (He claims he took "Chatting Up" when he got his doctorate.) They are all delighted to be invited to the wedding and reception and I have lots of volunteers to help - so lucky to have smart and talented friends.
Thanks to folks who are mentioning recipes - I am going to really focus on SBD over the next few weeks. My wedding outfit arrived Friday and is good but will be great with 5 to six pounds off. I need to review Phase I.
After Church today, I'll finish and submit the last three tax returns and get that stressor outta here.
I'm sipping coffee and making my grocery list. I am not sure how yesterday slipped away from me....actually the truth is I was not very motivated and spent too much time surfing and snacking. I did most of the laundry, some cleaning and bill paying but today I need to get groceries and make a food plan for the week's evening meals. There is nothing worse for me than standing in the kitchen at 5 pm with no idea what to cook and nothing thawed out!
Jennifer, glad you are dealing with life and kudos to your riding commitment! Have a good day off.
Isa, who knows what triggers our cravings some times? For me it can be lack of sleep, hormones or just DH tempting me (that would be the cake I ate last night) I agree with Jennifer, try the lentil stew again in the next week or two and see how it affects you.
Pearlrose, hope you got your chores done. We are slated for quite a bit of rain over the next few days.
It rained all day yesterday and is supposed to rain most of today as well. I did manage to clean out car yesterday in between bouts of rain, it really needed to be detailed and then took it to get oil changed and windshield wipers replaced. Did a grocery run yesterday too. DD1 and I went shopping and she got clothes for her orientation week at the hospital, since she has to wear business casual for that. I managed to not buy anything, did try on quite a few shirts but was feeling any of them.
Today I need to finish up indoor chores and laundry, got the dehumidifier running in the basement because it is wet, when you get this much rain no avoiding it in my basement. Luckily only takes a day or two of dry weather and it will be fine.
Ruth glad your friends are all on board and willing to help with the wedding
Beth I managed to stay op yesterday was too busy to pay much attention to food
Jekel hope you are able to get a ride in today
Isla it is weird, you never know what will set off a craving, but I would try again like everyone said and then if it does set off cravings then you know one of your trigger
Good morning just finished my favorite lunch after a ride: eggs over easy with turkey Swiss and avocado (so good!!!) Got 18 miles in this morning did a good deed and helped 2 lost riders (father and son). Helped when he got a flat too lol. Got in a few good climbs in my old shoes and really was amazed by the difference. So now my new cool shoes will be used on the trainer instead.
Ruth so nice to have great, creative, helpful friends. You should be able to lose those pounds before the wedding
Pearlrose so excited for DD1!!! Is this for an internship or her career? Will she be assigned to a specific unit?
Beth living alone its a little easier for me. I always keep some Grainful or the new WW frozen dinners in the freezer. Both are really tasty and OP
I don't remember if I posted this, but DS called me Friday. To say I was thrilled to hear from him was an understatement. My new Army Mom Friend, Christy, got a call yesterday. It's amazing how a quick phone call can make all the difference in the world. I found some old Halloween pictures of DS when he was a soldier. I think he was 6. I cant wait to see the pictures they take during basic.
Time to feed Coconut and get the day cranking. Enjoy today!
