I'm setting up our 2017 thread early as I know once the holidays truly arrive my check-ins become more sporadic. There's still over a week remaining in 2016 so keep those miles coming. Finish

A little background to this challenge if you're new to this thread: I've borrowed this thread idea from the wonderful Sum38 who started the 1000 miles in 2015 challenge and picked it up from the late Gary who created it. My thanks to Sum and Gary for creating and continuing this wonderful challenge. Honestly, my weight fluctuates and I have not fully committed to getting back into weight-loss mode. I find the goal of reaching 1000 miles inspiring and it is the one challenge I seem to stick with from beginning to end.
So, in keeping with Sum's model, please join me in the challenge to reach 1,000 miles in 2017. All types of exercise are welcome and encouraged
. Your own style of check in (daily, weekly, monthly) is equally encouraged. I'm a FitBit wearer so I found weekly and monthly best suited for me. Oh, and don't feel limited by 1,000 miles. Use it as a goal or your baseline; this challenge is all about what you want to accomplish. Here's to a great 2017!

). I'm so happy to have you here and wanting to embark on this challenge with me.
After months of telling myself that I'm getting back into running, I'm making the leap and have entered with a friend a 5K race in February and a 7K
Day race in March. These are good and reasonable distances to get back into it and my goal is to do a local 10 miler in May. I've paid for the first two races and if you're anything like me, when you shell out the cash you're more likely to follow through.
Anyway, walking has always been my go to exercise and led easily to running once I dropped a goodly number of pounds. It's time to get off my butt and hold myself accountable.
. I am in Canada so I guess it would be 1609km's. I don't have an activity tracker yet but have been wanting to get one so no better time than now.
friends!
