Good morning. I had a great sleep, have my coffee and am ready for the day. I'm not really sure what is on the agenda other than going to the verizon store to see about DH's phone. He is considering an upgrade.
I may do some laundry and cleaning, but otherwise not much on my agenda.
I am! Thanks for getting us started, Beth. By the time I finish this, I bet you'll tell us more of your day .
Mine's low key - I was supposed to go to a meeting 9-12, but since the 7-9 last night was hard enough, I'll stay at home and keep the kids out of trouble. Speaking of kids, DD met a girl in her martial arts class that loves to bake, so I dropped both kids off yesterday (!!! - she has a son DS age too!), they made eclairs and had a blast.
I think I'll pull a pork loin out of the freezer for dinner, otherwise I have no clue what to make. Any ideas? With some baked apples, straight off our tree?
Good morning, Beth! I was up, but had to restart my laptop after downloading some updates, so I was enjoying my coffee and watching the news in the meantime.
Sophie, I hope the meds start kicking in and your DH starts feeling better!
Ruth, thank goodness your passport came! We have our trip to Cape May coming up soon! I guess it's a good thing we had to cancel our trip to Charleston, eh?
Our church is having it's annual Christmas and Craft Show this morning, but I can only stay til 10:30, since I have to go out to the farm to pick up Audrey and take her to band practice at school. Then we're going to a farewell party this afternoon for my niece and goddaughter, who is moving to Alabama for her husband's new job. A lot of mixed emotions there, I don't like my family being all scattered. I guess I've been spoiled, with all my family living pretty close by all these past years.
Oh well, it's looking like another beautiful blue & gold day! Enjoy, and keep the victims of Hurricane Patricia in your thoughts and prayers.
Tammy, the other night I made a pork loin with brussel sprouts/broccoli/onions/mushrooms sauteed in olive oil and baked acorn squash. It was delicious!!
Drooling at the thought of that pork loin. Too bad they are way to big for a single person. Hmmm ... I bet I could persuade someone to come for dinner to help out!
Good morning, Early Chicks. I slept until after six for a change and am trying to get my head organized for the day. Yesterday was too cold to work outside and I feel like I wasted the day messing with plants and desk stuff. Today will be better.
We are getting way too many requests for our Mill flour and I did an inventory late yesterday afternoon. It looks like we will need to do another big grind soon before the pre-Christmas rush starts. Today I have a woman arriving at 10 to pick up 20 pounds of whole wheat. She is from PA and is coming up here specifically for flour! I hope she has something else she wants to do after such a long drive!
First on this morning's agenda is to sort and start the darned laundry. I also need to get my snow tires out of Doug's barn ready for installation next week. "Essence of winter sleep is in the night" and snow tires are supposed to be on when the roads get frozen, rather than when it snows.
I'm working today. DS is going to spend the day with DH at MIL's. They are already heading out so I suspect he has a nap or two in his future today. He flies out at 6 tomorrow morning. Tomorrow I have our annual conference call for our family charitable foundation and in the evening we are going to an unrelated fund-raising dinner. My mom bought a table.
Good morning everyone. It is so nice not having to be anywhere until work. I apologize for not catching up this week. Most of my days this past week I was up by 6 and not home until midnight. I found myself binging on crap out of exhaustion. So today I'll re-focus myself to undue the damage. Especially since I am only home until the first when I leave for Texas.
Linda my family is spread out so I understand how you feel.
Debbie I can only imagine your friend's anxiety waiting before her surgery. Glad she is doing well and you could come home.
Ruth I wasn't worried about the mill visitors lol. Maybe I'm lousy at my job. I picture Delta like Mayberry. In my mind everyone is welcoming. Especially in this day and age I need to believe places like Mayberry still exist.
Kim I hope everyone feels better soon. Glad hubby is home.
Sophie hope your hubby feels better. Seems there is a nasty viral sinus / cough thing going around.
Tammy pork roast with apples sounds perfect for a fall day. Lucky you, DD likes to bake. My DS just likes to eat lol
Beth hope you make the most of being off. Two days off pass by too quickly.
Good morning We are enjoying a sleep in weekend and it is still peaceful here. DH and Cricket are snuggled in so I'm enjoying a few minutes of catching up Today we want to get out for a fall walk or two, maybe one short one with the pup and one longer. Maybe we will just bring her and her pack. We also need to pick lots of apples for drying and I've prepped the pantry for a couple of bushels of winter squash.
Oops, something woke the dog. Time to let her out.

Reason: stupid "i" sticks
Tammy. Wow, I'm impressed with dd's baking. Mixing that pate choux is hard work.
Linda. Your day is busy. Just think of a family members you can visit. Thanks for asking about dh. He is still sleeping, that night time cough syrup knocks him down.
ruth. That flour must be special. I hope she keeps it in the freezer. I was just reading how ww flour goes rancid very quickly and should be in the freezer and amounts needed should only be taken out.
Karen. I guess your guys must haven been happy the royals won. Enjoy your dinner tonight.
Jennifer. Those are long days. Going to Texas will be nice, is it vacation.
I've been up for quite a while. Knitting of course. I have to go out today to get some groceries and there are some apples for me to deal with. Apple pies I guess tobe frozen for christmas.
take care
Sophie

I actually slept in until 7:30 a.m. this morning. I woke up a bit stiff this morning but it's due to changing my workout routine is all. Last night spent all evening de-cluttering the house for DD2's Halloween party. We are pretty much done cleaning the house just have a couple more areas to do. DD2 actually picked up her room even with no help from her sister who she shares the room with.
DD2 baked her cupcakes last evening as well, they look cute. (Glad I am not tempted by them)
So on tap today is bowling this morning for DD2, finish getting ready for party and then kids arrive at 4 and 3 of them will stay for a sleep over.
Beth I hate getting a new phone, the only thing wrong with my iphone 5 is the battery drains too quickly so I made an appointment with the apple bar to replace the battery this Monday.
Cottage have fun at the bazaar today. My family is scattered from Texas to Florida with places in between. Other than my immediate family, we have no relatives here, which sometimes get's lonely when you see other families celebrating events.
Tywnn that tenderloin sounds yummy! Glad DD found a new friend
Ruth better safe than sorry, glad I don't have to deal with snow tires though
Jekel sounds like you have a had a rough week of work again. Is Texas a break or work event for you?
Cyndi today here would be a perfect day for a walk enjoy it
Karen that was a short trip for DS, hope he enjoyed his time with you all
Good afternoon, ladies. I'm just now checking in because we have been having a wonderful, lazy, rainy family morning. Everybody is still struggling with allergies, but we're all in good spirits. We are definitely enjoying the rain that is coming through, but are praying that it's not too much to cause danger for anyone. We are especially thinking about those in Mexico.
We really don't have anything going on today. Just the usual weekend house work. I'm going to try and get caught up on laundry later and I'm making meatloaf with sweet potatoes for dinner. I can't wait for that! It's my favourite autumn meal.
Pearl: Sounds like an exciting night is in store for you. Can't wait to hear how the Halloween party goes!
Sophie: What knitting are you working on? I miss crocheting and would love to start up again. DS doesn't have a crocheted blanket from me.
Cyndi: Sounds like the perfect fall day! Enjoy!
Jennifer: Those hours are brutal!! Please get some R&R this weekend. Sounds like you desperately need it. Where in Texas are you going? Wonder how close you're going to be to us.
Karen: I hope you had a wonderful time with your son. Enjoy your evening!
Ruth: That is some flour! Wish I was close enough to drive up for some. Do you want to come sort my laundry, too? If there was anything I'd be willing to pay someone else to do, it's laundry.
Linda: I feel your pain. I grew up surrounded by all our family and extended family. For 9 years now, I've been the one who has lived the furthest away and it just stinks some days. Hope you enjoyed the Christmas craft fair!!
Tammy: Did she bring any eclairs home to share? That temptation sounds impossible to pass up. Pork and apples are one of our favorite combos. I can only imagine what it would taste like with fresh-from-the-tree apples!
Beth: Your day sounds a lot like ours. Except for the phone upgrade...I would have to send DH on that errand solo. I hate dealing with phone stores, especially on Saturdays with 2 kiddos in tow.

Sipping my coffee on this rainy Sunday morning and enjoying the peaceful and quiet start to the day. We do want to run out for groceries before too long, though, and then we have a special Mass to attend that's being said in honor of my SIL's family later. Later this afternoon, Jake and I are going to work on plans to build a fire pit in the area where we used to have our pool. Jake is all gung-ho about it, especially after sitting around my brother's fire pit yesterday. May as well do it now, before we start growing grass there, and the ground is still bare.
Linda, the fire pit sounds like a nice idea. We removed an above-ground pool a couple of years ago and currently have a circle where the grass is a bit sparse. Maybe I should convince DH to do something similar. Enjoy your day.
We also have wind and rain this morning, although it may clear up later so DH and I can take a walk.
Yesterday I managed to do a few chores: some laundry, a trip to BJs for some groceries and DH's phone and a walk. I also read most of a novel so that's a good day.
Ruth, when the kids are here I buy a whole pork loin (10+ pounds) but my store also sells small ones that are only around 1.5 lbs and come either marinated or with a dry rub. That's the size I cook for DH and I; bought one yesterday in fact.
Today I'm going to make some stew for dinner. I'll be sure to put some in the freezer for later too.
