Default November Chat

Halloween is over and it's November already! I can see Christmas waving at me from not so far away!

I thought I'll start a new thread for this months chatter, as I find it's really great to read about you all and your trials and tribulations as well as your success!

I did my weigh in last Friday instead of Saturday and lo and behold - I lost 900g (1.9 lbs) I'm pretty thrilled!

However, this weekend we also visited the autumn and amusement fair in our city and this also includes foods I would normally steer clear of. But I went there with the intention to enjoy our indulgence in moderation and what can I say - I did! I'm pretty proud that I even refrained from eating some things I would normally have. Instead, we invested in a couple of very pretty non-food items (handcrafted salt and pepper mills made from olive wood).

While I did write down everything I ate, I'm really not sure about my points. But I decided to just leave it at that and continue with the plan as intended.

I was also careful to cook a healthy meal both Saturday and Sunday for dinner.

So - no regrets, all good.

How is everyone doing?

Tanyanka - congrats on a great loss! Glad you were able to enjoy your weekend and not suffer on the scale

I can't believe we are already into Nov! I am already planning some WW friendly side dishes for Thanksgiving, haha!

I've been trying to stay on track. I finished all my gingerthins, so no more snacking on those throughout the day. I've been having major sweet cravings lately due to stress (I am a stress eater!) so I bought some really tasty clementines at the market to eat instead. But, really, I just want to down a pint of ice cream, but I will resist!

Tomorrow is weigh in day, I'm hoping for 1 lb (about 500 g) loss!

November already? HOW?!

I've realized my carbs have been out of control the last month of so, which is probably why I'm not really losing weight. My 125lb loss was a combo of low carb and WW. It just works best for me - or else I can eat 36/36 points of bread and butter for the day. LOL So, today I'm trying to get back to my low carb/WW roots.

Hmm - I'd suspect so, Chipper. It's connected to your account, which is part of the online aspect, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to.

Congrats on the loss Tanyanka, and good that you got to go to a fair and enjoy yourself

TheLunchLady - The weight watchers ice cream bars, if you can buy them where you're located, are amazing for satisfying sweet tooth cravings. I usually keep two different types in my freezer. They're low in points too! The points can still add up though, so if you're the type to eat a ton of them in one go just cause they're there (which is what I use to do) then I wouldn't recommend it.

Count me in as also not believing it's already November. Time has been flying by! It's a good thing though.. We're now headed into my third month of being on WW, which is by far the longest I have ever kept with a diet/food/lifestyle change. Yay!

Weigh in for one of the challenges I'm participating in was today. Weighed in at 233.8 which is a lb down from the first weigh in for that particular challenge. Other challenges have their weigh ins in a few more days, but I'm on track for a loss there too, despite having stuffed myself silly with pizza, soda, alcohol, and candy on the 1st of the month, lol. I'm also down 10lbs since I joined the 3FC site! Or was at 234 (technically 234.4 would be the 10lb loss mark but I've only been doing full numbers on my ticker). So whee there too! I'd like to reach my first mini-goal by the end of November.

@sunarie - yes I have tried the WW bars when I lived in the States. The only thing WW related I find here are the microwave meals and those are hard to come by, too. I managed to resist my urge though! I guess if I have a major breakdown, a pint of Ben & Jerry's would be 32 pts and I have 49 for the week extra, so I could dip into those... but I'd rather not. LOL.

I had a great weigh in today, -1.6 lbs for me! That makes -5.8 since I joined a month ago, not too bad. I am going to try out some new recipes this week since I'm getting sick of eating the same thing over & over. I may even use some of my extra points to go out to eat.

Otherwise, it's been rainy and cold here, which makes me want to just stay inside and drink hot chocolate, NOT go to the gym! But I have to keep my motivation up. My dad is coming to visit and stay over the holidays and he will be here in 3 weeks, so I want to lose a few more lbs before he gets here since he hasn't seen me since my pre-pregnancy days.

There's a hot chocolate recipe that I absolutely love.. but that is probably diabetes in a crockpot. I may make a batch at some point and just indulge, but it is really really rich, and the batch is pretty large, even when cut in half. I'll refrain from posting it in the thread in case it triggers anyone :x

Do you have skinny cow there? They make healthy ice cream stuff that's pretty good too. Breyers also makes a low fat, fat free, sugar free, and carb smart option. Italian Ice is also another one I turn to when I want a frozen treat fix. Trying to think of things that won't destroy your points, lol. congrats on the loss for the week, and the month! For recipes, I know I've stolen a few from the WW recipe section of the forums here. I've also stolen a ton from a site called skinny kitchen, simply nourished living, and slender kitchen. A lot of them have points attached, but I always check them cause often I'll use different ingredients, plus I just like to be sure.

Boyfriends mom and sister may not be coming for Thanksgiving now. Found out I get my son for the holiday, which means if they visit one of them will be sleeping on the floor, or they have to get a hotel. Let boyfriend's mom know via facebook message, since that's how I usually talk to her, and she said she'd have to think about plans.. hasn't said anything in two days now. So maybe we'll actually get my way and we'll be headed there for a day or two instead.

Sunarie- I hope your Thanksgiving plans work out. I hate trying to coordinate with everyone, it never works out without someone not 'getting their way'.

Halloween was bad plus it was my birthday, so not a good combination for my eating but i was down 1.6lbs this week. Which is great, now in the 160s again. Hopefully can keep this slow and steady pace going.

Congrats everyone on your weight loss!

What i like about WW most is that you are actually allowed to eat special treats every now and then. I think it's important that we still go out and celebrate special events and actually allow ourselves to enjoy special foods. I don't think it helps to feel bad about it. Just take it in stride and go back to the plan the next day. I think the slow and steady approach is also a healthy one. So we just have to remind ourselves to be patient.

It's my boyfriend's birthday next week and I want to either make a cake for him or Muffins. I found a very yummy sounding WW recipe for Blueberry Muffins, and also a WW recipe for a chocolate-raspberry cake. I just can't decide yet which one to make.

Do you have any favourites you can recommend? I prefer from-scratch recipes, as we don't have the baking mixtures over here in Europe you guys get in the States and I in general am no big friend of baking mixtures anyways. (I'm a snob that way. )

My birthday cake, which is not WW by any means, is a maraschino cherry cake. I've had it every year for my birthday without fail. If my mom doesn't make it, my grandma does.. I've made it now that I live pretty far away. My step-dad asked for it for his birthday once and got yelled at about how it was my cake, lol. I don't have the recipe my grandma uses, but it's very similar to this recipe I found online:
http://allrecipes.com/recipe/marasch...erry-nut-cake/

The cake is super sweet, but very nummy. I also agree that what I like a ton about weight watchers is being allowed to eat sweet treats every so often. It's not entirely off plan so I don't end up feeling bad about it and the knowledge that if I want something I can have it helps prevent me from binging. There has always been something about telling myself I can't have something that eventually ends up in my binging on the something. I haven't got that feeling yet with WW and it's been working!

Congrats on the loss despite the holiday Dixiemom

Weigh-in for some challenges (I'm in 3 total right now) is tomorrow. I've been on track for another loss so I'm hyped about it. Also had some personal stuff happen last night that'd most likely be way TMI for the forums.. but it has me feeling pretty confident today, and happy overall. Major personal win sorta thing

Hey ladies, just checkin in. I kind of fell off on Tuesday and had a chocolate attack but I kept the damage minimal. Instead of my usual 1 piece of dark chocolate, I ate the rest of the bar (so, 3 pieces) and then I had a glass of ovaltine. Overall, 6 pts of damage... it could have been MUCH worse.

I'm feeling kind of blah and a bit depressed lately, which makes me want to eat sweets (particularly... ice cream!). I'm going through a pretty nasty divorce and it isn't making things much easier. I haven't been able to make it to the gym these past few days due to it being super rainy, but it's nice today so I will take my daughter out for a walk later on. Then tomorrow back to the gym.

Sorry to hear it Lunch. :hugs:

Sun - congrats on personal victories!

I'm going to my first Weigh In in a minute on Saturday. I'm expecting another gain, but whatever. I'm doing my best (kinda) and I'm *trying* to get my sh*t together. I even got up a for a run this morning at 430am and as soon as I took maybe 10 steps outside the rain started pouring. WHOMPWHOMP

Aww, sucks when weather doesn't cooperate with your mood. Kudos for keeping things together best you can while your hormones are on the fritz with fertility treatment stuff.

I'm down 1.8lbs for a challenge weigh-in today. At 232.8. So that's exciting. On track for meeting my first scale mini-goal by the end of the month!

It sure does! Gah! And then this morning it was in the 30s and I just couldnt muster the energy to get out of bed. LOL. The fertility stuff sucks. DH and I talked about taking the next couple of months off, but then found out my insurance is getting more expensive, which means all fertility stuff gets more expensive for us. It goes from like 10% to 20%, which seriously adds up in the long run.

Congrats on the -1.8lbs!!! EEE!! Very exciting!

How are you doing, Lunch? You've been in my thoughts.

Tan, are you looking for WW friendly recipes or gluttonous ones? I have a small baking business on the side and don't think it's snobby of you at all.

---

Y'all - I went through my old posts on 3FC to see what I used to eat when I did WW since I was so wildly successful and that was so helpful! I also weighed daily then and we had a daily weigh in thread. I destroyed my scale months ago and I proposed to DH that we buy a new one now and he told me no. My BFF told me no. They like it when I'm not so obsessed, but I'm not as successful.
