I can't seem to change the scale? I'm eating 1100-1200 calories a day and running with the c25k app 3 times a week. For 2 weeks now my weight is staying stubborn. I cannot eat less and I cannot run more. What can I do? Was thinking go doing yoga in between the run days but to be honest, my run days aren't spaced evenly. Because of loads of rain in uk, I have to choose when the day is dry AND when my work schedule is early. ( some days I work 8-4,10-6,1130-730). On my late work days I don't want to run before work because that day is long enough and I treasure my sleep. It makes the day longer because I will be on call those days and working the weekend too. ( which then I work 11 days straight. With 4 days on call) if Any of that makes sense. Lol. Any suggestions please ?

Hiya Cheddah, The only advice I can give is to keep doing what you're doing. Unfortunately, plateaus come to all of us after a fairly significant period of losing weight. Just give it time, and in 1 to 3 weeks you'll most probably get a big whoosh (as it's called here) and quite a few lbs. will disappear, so don't worry too much about it. Life flows at it's own pace, and even at it's best the british summer time is wildly unpredictable (understatement).
When I was trying to get out of the 170's, I was stuck at 171 for 3 or 4 weeks, then the WHOOSH, my weekly weigh in had me at 168 WHAT!?!, and (having just touched wood) I've been losing steadily since.
You're doing everything right as long as you're comfortable.
I guess my real advice is just don't give up, what you're going through is completely natural, and will correct on it's own.

My 170 plateau lasted over 2 months. You just have to hang on and wait it out.

You got some solid advice. I'd like to add that perhaps you'd consider calorie cycling? For me, whenever I hit a stall, I'll add some more food to my diet (because I'm also eating low calorie like you), so I'll add about 300-400 calories more to one day. Then I don't weigh for 3 or 4 days and continue with what I was doing before. For some reason, this usually makes me lose weight. Maybe your body needs this....there's something I"ve read about called "re-feed." This is not exactly that, but it follows the same concept. Also, when you add those extra calories, make them good ones. Make sure you're having some healthy fat (and protein), so maybe a extra nuts or avocado, or olive oil on your salad...that type of thing (basically, don't just go and have a bunch of empty calories). Whatever you do, don't give up. You're doing fantastically well. Oh and finally....maybe consider putting your scale away for a few weeks and just focus on what you're doing. I've done that before, even though it was hard...and you know what? It really helped me feel more positive.

I agree with luckymommy. Vary your calories and I would definitely go up with them. I wonder if you are eating enough with the amount of exercise you do? Might be worth a try!!

Good luck!

Do you weigh daily?

My weight tends to be the same for a few weeks, then whoosh, then up a pound, stays there for a few weeks, another whoosh, etc.

I agree with the others saying to up your calories a bit. Sometimes the best way to break a plateau is to give your body a little more to work with.

I'm in the same boat. I calorie count and hey, C25K as well! Week 6 day one getting ready to start! I'm also not consistent, I try to run when it's not so miserably hot out! I looked at my food log and there was no change from last Sunday to this Sunday, and before that a small drop. Basically 2 weeks to lose a total of half a pound. Food diary is good, I do write down (and measure) everything, I have a fit bit, and I don't "eat" my earned calories.

I'm going to toss in the 30DS to see if that stirs a change. I've been weighing myself EVERY morning just getting impatient, so the scale is going to be put away for a while, once a week TOPS I've decided. I just got my waist and other measurements to track as well.

Hopefully, we both leave our plateau!

I'd like to add that often times, progress is being made but is just not registering on the scale. Take measurements and photos if you can. The scale is not the best indicator of short term weight changes due to a variety of factors.

Thanks ladies!! yes I do weigh daily because I am an impatient girl. But it also motivates me to keep going but I think putting the scale away is a good idea. I'm on my fitness pal and log in daily. I also have a garmin fitbit( a surprise present from hubby) that I use to log steps etc. I'm interested in yoga def and will work it in between runs. The adding good calories is interesting because the other day I was wondering if adding slight amount for a day or two would jump start my metabolism? I feel like it's taken so long to lose the 33 ( only 3 months but I usually drop fast at first then slowly lose after the dreaded plateau) that some days I get discouraged

I know what it's like to get discouraged. The one thing I've learned, is to not give up. Everytime in the past I hit a plateau I would struggle for 2 weeks and then... slowly let go. A year later, all the loss + more. Other things contributed to this as well like school, stress, etc... but I'm coming to the point that even if we never lose 1 more pound, we feel better now right? 33lbs gone, that's awesome, make sure it stays gone!

I have a hula hoop that weighs five pounds. I picked it up the other day and thought, wow, when I lose five pounds of fat, it's this much. I don't know why that made me think of it but losing fat (vs. water) is a massive accomplishment and to lose 5 lbs. of it is just incredible. We all want to lose fast and that is completely understandable, but if you think about it, you HAVE lost a bunch of weight. Be proud of yourself and try not to focus on the time too much. As long as you're doing it right (which you are), it's only a matter of time. I think so many people give up because it doesn't go fast enough, which is so unfortunate. I"m glad you came here to talk it out and that you got some support. I think most of the maintainers here have experienced a stall in their weight loss but they kept on doing what they were doing, or they switched it up a bit to get things going. Just hang in there. You're doing so well!
