It's been a couple years since I've been on here, under a different username. In those two years I was at a job that I hated (and apparently tried to punish them by eating my feelings, like that works), met my now fiancee (who is a lumberjack and can eat anything and lose weight), moved in with that fiancee, stopped running altogether, moved from Washington DC to Michigan, got proposed to by fiancee and somehow gained 100 lbs (after previously losing 70).
So I'm back and recommitted to getting the body that I had two years ago.
I'm new since you left, but welcome back! Wow, lots of changes going on in your life, although it sounds like most of them are positive ones. Congrats on the engagement, are you two getting married anytime soon?
I'm new to this site and glad I decided to click on your post in the "introductions" section. We have a lot in common. This is my third go-around losing the weight. (-115lbs in 2005. -77lbs in 2008) and my life has been a whirl wind for the past 2 years, which is what I would like to blame for ballooning back up to 280 lbs. Sadly, I'm pretty sure my compulsive binging and general lack of self preservation skills are the real culprit. Finally done wallowing and ready to do something about it. I'm not sure what your plan is but if you are interested in an accountability partner, or just someone to b*#ch to when the going gets rough, I'm your gal. Also, if you find any other good groups on this site, feel free to pass them along. I live in South Korea (for work) so my only real support are my husband (good man, but still a man, if you know what I mean) and my 2 year old (very sweet but not yet the greatest conversationalist ) I'm looking for all the support I can get. Good luck to you and I hope we can both report lots of great weight loss in the weeks and months to come.
Hey there! We actually sound a TON alike, even down to the amount of weight we have to lose. I just moved to Michigan because FI is in graduate school, so I have no in-town friends but FI (again, a man) and my two dogs (awesome, but your two year old might be a better conversationalist -- so I'd love an accountability buddy!
I'm just doing the diet and exercise thing, much more diet heavy right now because exercise sucks at such a high weight, but the combination is how I lost weight last time.
Yep. Good ol' diet and exercise. I've tried every fad, machine, pill, pouch, powder and potion but both times I lost real weight was just straight up calorie tracking (food journal, food scale, a good pencil...) and the gym. That's what I'm going back to now. 1,200 cals a day and an hour of exercise to start. Both times I lost weight previously I pretty much just made it my job and tuned out everything else in my life. Can't do that so much with a family so this is kind of new territory for me, but that's what gives me hope that this time maybe I can make a real lifestyle change so I don't find myself back here 3 years from now crying the same sad story for the fourth time. So, what do you think we can do to help motivate and hold one another accountable? I know I joined another thread on this site that's like a month by month weight loss challenge of sorts. People post their starting weight for the month and their weight loss goal and then weigh in throughout the month (some daily, which just freaks me out) at their own pace. Seems some also post different stats about food intake and exercise, I guess also for accountability. I'm planning on weighing in once a week so we'll see how that goes. I am kind of a competitive person so maybe it will light a fire to see my numbers up against other peoples.
Anyway, let me know what you think would help you with accountability and I hope we can find good ways to help one another. Us friendless chicks have to stick together LOL
