Default Have any pointers for a newbie?

Hi, all. I just joined yesterday on the 4th of July. First thing I did was sign up for the 4th of July to Halloween challenge. I got the MyFitnessPal app (is there a better app?) I was hoping somebody could give me some pointers on where to start on this site...like helpful things to read, suggestions, motivation, recipes, diet, etc. I've got about 50 to 60 pounds to lose and have been unsuccessful on my own. My weight is causing health issues like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, GERD. I really need all the help I can get. Suggestions would be much appreciated!

Sounds like you have a great plan already! I use allrecipes.com to come up with quick, easy, and low calorie meals. Two of my favorites are chicken with artichokes and salsa chicken. Yum!

Thank you both! I like all allrecipes and I use bigoven. Bigoven is a great way to keep track of the recipes you find. I had a great first day today!

Welcome, and it seems like you are doing fine already!

The biggest thing that helps me is "dieting" through intuitive eating. I don't like the idea of unsustainable diets, so severely restricting carbs or fat for a few months just seems silly. My 2 cents

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Overfed Head is offered as a free PDF online, and I highly recommend the read!
