I've been counting points and am thinking about switching over to the 'dark side' ... because I battle with horrific cravings and binges. I'm hoping that core will help w/ the cravings, and I can get back on track.
Any pointers for a newbie to core? I go to meetings and have all of the materials, I subscribe to WW Online and have WW On-the-go on my PDA, but not ONE person at our meeting is doing Core!?
You should definitely go ahead and try Core - maybe for a month or so? I think you will be surprised when your cravings not only subside but disappear. You might suffer from some 'withdrawal' symptoms as your body adjusts to less sugar and white refined carbs, but after that it will be clear sailing.
The beauty of core is being able to eat healthy natural wholesome foods without going hungry and without having to 'hoard' points. It is not uncommon on flex to forego eating fruits and other healthy items (e.g. milk) in order to save points and use them for eating non-nutritious snacks.
Feel free to join us on our chat threat and check us out on the coreporate profiles thread and fill one out yourself!
I think it's important to realize that you will probably have a week or so on core where you are very confused! Once you get the hang of things it is much simpler than flex (I think) but at first you are questioning everything. Just so you know, that passes!
Many of us have tried both core and flex. I'd say give core a try for a month or so. It takes awhile to get used to it, but it's worth it.
Thanks Froufie and Septembersgoal! I appreciate the pointers...
I was on a plan before that was all weighed and measured portions, and only meat, fruit, veggies and fat... no carbs of any sort, and the detox was rough, but once I got through it, I felt awesome. I know the treasures that COULD be waiting for me if I'd just step up. I think fear has a lot to do with it. I go to WW tomorrow night, so if I start Core it will be on Friday.
Nicole, don't forget, core isn't a low-carb diet, which makes things easier on me anyway! You can have potato, brown rice, or ww pasta once a day! And cereal once a day.
Nicole, I love Core and have been dong it pretty much faithfully since September of 2004. I could be doing better but medical situations have caused me to stop exercising since last September. Even so, I've lost 45 pounds. I say give it a try for at least a month. It takes that long to detox and get the hang of it. We have MANY great recipes on our board. We even have a member who made it to goal on Core. We're very proud of her!
Welocme to the world of core. This is week three for me. My first two weeks on Core I lost 3 pounds. (After 6 months of flex I lost 16). There are some wonderful recipes here to try and the support is great. Oatmeal with milk makes a great breakfast in the winter months and stays with you for a good while. Keep charging.
I have been going to WW meetings since 11/11/04 I did great until they introduced flex then I would loss and gain. It was so frustrating. I did what froufy said I would hoard points just so I could have ice cream or chips. I basically stopped eating fruits & veggies. Two weeks ago i started core the first week I lost 5 pounds and i felt so much better. I have to admit you have to do more planning and this week i am feeling the sugar withdraws but i think once i get thru that i will enjoy core for a very long time. I do have a question for everyone. since i drive a school bus i don't drink much water (or anything else) during the day I don't think the parents would be amused if i was knocking on their door needing to use the bathroom....hehe I do however get all of my water in each day it just happens after 6pm. I drink 4 - 32oz jugs a nite. Do you think this is ok? It shouldn't matter when i drink my water as long as i get it all in...Right???
Sorry for the off topic question but it came in my head as i was typing my response.
Bunny chick …try core you will like it !!!

I also drink all my water pretty much at once, also at night. only problem is not having to get up at night to go to the bathroom.
Lynn, I think it would be better to drink it throughout the day while you are eating to flush your meals. Having said that, though, drinking it sometime is much better than not drinking it at all. So keep up the good work. That's alot of water you're drinking! I only get 8 eight ounce glasses in each day in addition to my other decaf beverages.
BTW, I am not on Flex for the same reason that you are now on Core. I did NOT make good choices. Good luck.
Thanks all, I'm on Day 3 now, and the first 2 days were sheer heaven! I love being able to eat as much as I need to feel satisfied. I've stocked my cupboards w/ corn meal, quinoa, steel cut oats, and all of the other things that I love on Core. This has been a wonderful experience so far. I even went to the movies last night and took 94%FF popcorn, and a package of Fruities. I didn't feel deprived at all! I adore core!
Core really helped me when I gained several pounds (have been Lifetime since Nov. 2004). I did Core for 2 weeks and the weight flew back off. Now I am doing Core again--have committed to 3 solid weeks--just need some time to focus more on whole grains and produce. My flex choices were getting a little too junky.
I find that I have to do a big food shopping before I start Core--the grains, ff cottage cheese and MUCH more fruits and vegetables.
I stick to using Wasa crackers w/Laughing Cow cheese as one of my snacks--I count it against Activity Points.
Elana , I too went HardCore the past 8-9 weeks and the weight flew off me too. A great feeling. Messed around so much finally got tough with myself. It took a lot of hard work, determination, focusing and exercise, but I did it too.
Stick with it BunnyChick, you'll love the end result!!
