Stopping the negativity and self-criticism was very challenging for me. It seemed like an impossible leap to go from "I hate my thighs" to "I love <insert ANYTHING here>. It was too drastic of a change that didn't feel genuine at all. So instead I made a middle step. I just worked on being neutral about myself. Not loving, not hating... Just neutral. So whenever I looked in the mirror and saw something I used to hate, I would just say "I'm working on it."
Somehow that really worked and it became the automatic voice in my head. Now, I'm starting to replace that voice with more positive, self loving things... But for me that middle ground was really key.
