Hi everyone I am looking to lose weight and meet some friends that know what it is like to be over weight. I have been over weight most of my life but this last year has been the worst for me. Never been this big before. I find myself wanting to hide out in the house because of it. I have been depressed due to not being able to work any longer due to arthritis and back problems. I hope to do well here. Thanks everyone.

Welcome and best of luck to you! I'm "obese" and I don't like it! Together we can all motivate each other!

I'm losing weight, but still "obese" technically.

I'm new too. I'm still working but also have the neck and back problems. I was thin once and was I guess average, weighed more than I wanted but I was firm. Now I'm 58, and menopause has not been good to me. Never been this big before--I know what you mean. I've gained 80 lbs in the last ten years. I want to lose wtg, but I take NO steps to do it......why do I do this?

Several newbies on this thread, I see

Donna, you can do it! I have degenerative arthritis in one hip and also back problems, plus had a huge thyroid tumor a few years ago. Getting off 80 pounds has made a HUGE difference in my back pain (with the help also of a good chiropractor and physical therapy). I also have less problems with my hip. I've still got a ways to go but it is sooooo worth the hard work and discipline needed to lose the weight.

You can do it!! We are all in the same boat around here LOL
