I know its not a lot, but its been years since I've done one. Several weeks ago, before I started working out again, I attempted to do one and fell flat. For the last week or so I've been doing partial pushups, about 1/3 of the way down.
A little while ago, I felt invigorated after drinking some carrot juice (never happened before), and I thought, "I can do a push up". So I got down on the floor and tried. I only had enough in me to get one full push up done. I'm super excited. My next official weigh in is tomorrow and I can't wait to see if the scale has moved.
I've been working out awhile, and on a good day, with proper form I can crank out 12-14.
Most days, 10 is a struggle and it took me about 9 months to get to that. I started out thinking I would die after 2! And I'm pretty sure my form was pathetic!
Alright--you're killing me with the juice ;-)--but congrats on the pushup!! That IS a really big deal!! It took me a really long time to build up to one, on Jillian Michaels workouts.
If you want to see how much weight you're pushing up get into a pushup postion and put your hands on the scale. Depending on where you hold your fat you could be pushing up 300lbs. I couldn't do that once.
Good for you! I still can't do a real push-up. I do the modified version on my knees, and even those I can only do 10 or 15 at a time. I need more upper body strength.
