Default 150 cals made a 1.5 lb difference

In the beginning I was eating 1200 cals/day and losing two pounds a week. Last week motivation waned and I ate 1350/day. I only lost half a pound. I am bummed that a measly 150 cals made a 1.5 lb difference. This week, even though I am armed with this knowledge, I still havnt had the wherewithal to do 1200. 1400 on Tues, 1300 yesterday, 1300 today. I am stressed and anxious (about other things) and I can't seem to do 1200. That seems awfully low but at my current sedentary mode that is what I have to do for a two pound week. I am also short. Maybe that is why. I am losing momentum. I feel myself drifting towards the rocks.

Fluffypuppy--I'm sorry to hear you're stressed. By my calculations, 150 calories per day for a week adds up to 1050 calories total. A pound of fat is 3500 calories. At most, you've slowed yourself down by about a third a pound per week with your extra calories by my math. Keep in mind there are a number of variables that can cause fluctuations from day to day that have nothing to do with calories (water retention being at the top of the list). Likewise, weightloss is often not linear as we think it should be (sometimes it's downright unpredictable!). Two pounds per week is a phenomenal loss, but not sustainable for a lot of us over time. Don't blame yourself and by all means steer away from the rocks!

Fluffy puppy- your extra 150 cals isn't enough to explain the weight difference. Other factors are at play. Do not give up!

Weight loss does slow down for many people, regardless if you're staying on plan. I've been on or around 1200 since I started and, I lost something like 5lbs a week when I first started and now I'm down to 3 or 4lbs a month.

I'd still take 3 or 4lbs a month rather than nothing at all or gaining.

Moving Forward--makes a lot of sense. I hope you are right and that I see more of a result this week. I would settle for losing slower if it was just 1/3 of a pound slower. That would be a fair trade off.

Mozzy--I think you're right. I felt like I had hard evidence but I hadn't considered water.

Too big--- thanks!

Vex--ya. I just didn't think it would slow down this much this soon. Still, you're right, it's still going in the right direction!

Feeling better now. Thanks folks.
