New and In Need of Support
Hi there, everyone!
I am a 27 year old woman who is ready to lose, but unsure how to best get the support and accountability I need. I am 217 Ibs and 5'11 - I suffered from Graves' Disease (Hyperthyroid) and was 155 Ibs in high school, but when I had my thyroid removed in 2003 my weight ballooned and I've never been able to get lower than 180 Ibs since then, and haven't been able to maintain it.
I have tried weight watchers about 100 times, and other online programs. Now, I am working through the cognitive behavioral therapy weight management workbook and doing it on my own. I saw a counselor about a year ago, but she didn't do anything but helped me enable myself. I am so ready to make a change and get this under control - i just want to be healthy at a reasonable BMI. Am shooting for 165-175 Ibs.
I tried to get support and accountability from my girlfriends and mother, but all of them have their own weight problems (some have obesity issues and some have obsessive compulsive eating issues). They can't do much to support me because they've got their own problems to deal with, and when I lose weight they are resentful or wicked pushy. But I know I need some help, some companionship on this journey.
I've not tried the forum approach, so I thought I'd give it a go. So, here I am, and I am ready and willing to give support and accountability for any of you who need it and would really appreciate the same in return.
I am getting married in 2014 and want to 1) look my best for my wedding! and 2) take care of my food issues before I have children: I don't want to raise a child and pass on these issues and behaviors to them.
So, great to meet you, thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for your support.
