Question Question about basic calories in vs burned...

Ok this intrigued me today...I was thinking about this...when I started this new lifestyle of better eating and healthier lifestyle I never really thought of anything other than the basic calories in vs. calories burned....I knew I needed to be around 1200-1300 for healthy weight loss so that is what I have averaged for 44 days....now I have lost (technically according to MY scale, not the DR's) 16lbs!

So based on those numbers alone.... 16lbs x 3500 calories per lb = 56,000 calories NOT consumed in 44 days... so if I figure 56,000 uneaten calories divided by 44 days that is 1273 calories per day not being eaten...so basically I have cut my food in half

Now I was maintaining my weight prior to beginning this so basically if I wanted to stay at 197-200lb I could eat 2500 per day? (clearly not what I want, just asking)

I also figure I am losing like 3lbs per week...which is WONDERFUL, but I want to SLOWWWWWW things down. So should I add 250 calories per day back in and see what happens? I am thinking that will get me closer to 2lbs per week....

ANY THOUGHTS?

I wouldn't add calories your weight loss will slow down by itself. It is normal to have a big loss at first than slow down but still losing.

That sounds right. I was probably eating around 2,500 cals a day (if not more) when I was maintaining my high weight of 195. Now, at 140 lbs, I eat 2,000 cals per day to maintain.

I agree with the previous poster who advised agains upping your calories. Trust me, your current rate of 3 lbs per week will decrease all by itself.

Thanks to both of you...I lost a bunch right away, then went a couple weeks with no loss, then started losing again...but when I averaged everything seeing that the average was so high per week I was shocked. So I just wanted to make sure that my "numbers" that I had come up with were pretty close to being right..lol
