Default Will a detox diet work for me?

Hi. I am only 12 pounds over the healthy weight for my height. I have large breasts and belly fat I would like to reduce.
I am curious to try a detox diet, so my question is, would a detox diet work to eliminate those last few pounds? (I know exercise is a given).
Also, what is the average time in days/weeks that it takes to lose said amount of pounds on a detox?

Do you think a doctor would tell you to go on a "detox" diet?? Semi starvation won't last long, you will get weak and have a foul mood, and then go on a binge and anything you lose will come back on, lordy.
Why the sudden big hurry ? Desparation is not a good way to train yourself to eat healthier for the rest of your life.

Well, I won't be starving--I bought fruits, vegetables, quinoa, almonds, etc. to be sure I got in all the major food groups. However, I am leaving out the sauces, extra fats & sugars, processed foods, etc that make most food we eat unhealthy. I didn't speak with a doctor, but have spoken with someone who did the diet for a week and she lost 10 pounds in that time. Granted, she did have more weight to lose than I did, so I don't expect the same results, but I figure I could maybe lose 3 or so.
There's no hurry, just a desire to lose weight in a healthy way. I have been off and on bullemic for the past 4 years which has produced no results, and would like to try a slightly healthier method than that.

Yes, a detox diet would be helpful. I know some people that have lost about 10lbs in 3 weeks time doing it. Granted, they did a specific detox program that had 3 phases in it. In phase one, they balanced their body chemistry with four supplements and reduced cravings/dependencies on sugar and caffeine. The second phase they went through basically cleansed their digestive system to remove the toxins and then in the third phase they ate foods of high-nutritional value whose nutrients were easily absorbed to return healthy bacteria to the digestive tract. I plan on doing this detox as well once I finish up with my current exercise program before I move onto another one.
