Default Is beef/red meat really that bad?

I've heard that beef/steak/pork/etc. is bad for you and should be avoided. Is this completely true? My family has a lot of beef and pork for dinners because it is the only thing that everyone will eat, as my mom hates chicken and fish, and my sister hates fish. I've been measuring my beef every night with a scale and making sure I'm in the 4oz-6oz range. Before dinner, I usually don't eat a lot of meat (I eat the occasional chicken breast and veggie burger for lunch or dinner) and I count my calories. Even with the beef for dinner, I don't go over my calorie or fat limit. I eat lean hamburger meat, and when we have steak, I have a very small lean piece as I don't like fat on meat. For everything else (homemade tacos, stew, meatloaf, etc.) I measure my meat. Is this messing up my diet? I mean, some nights I have chicken or turkey, but it's hard to do every night because then we have to cook separate meals for my sister and my mom.

It's a staple of my diet. It fits within my calorie ranges, keeps me filled up and I have no cholesterol issues.

You'll find people that say grains are bad, gluten in bad, fish is bad, fruit is bad, dairy is bad, cheese is bad, fat is bad, fat is good, and everything in between. Just pick what works for you.

Red meet is good, pork is the worst kind of it, the good thing is that it contains a lot of iron and other nutrients, and of course it tastes good.

What is wrong with pork? I eat it in moderation and have no problems with it. I think all meats, eaten in moderation , are good for you because your body needs that protein and the other nutrients they supply.

Yep, I cook up Hamburger meat, add some onions and seasonings and I eat it on salads all week! But I do mix it up, I.E. have chicken, fish, and other things but red meat is def. a staple for me. I havent had any problems yet, And as I am taller I really struggle to get to enough calories every day, and this definetely helps me. Good luck!

I think opinions on what types of meat are good for you will vary from person to person. I like beef and pork...I like anything meaty actually. I don't think those types of food are bad for me, my ancestors ate meat and they were probably healthier then me. I <3 meat, lol! Somebody else will probably give you a different answer or want to argue with my meaty love.

It's not completely true. Like what everyone else said, everything is fine in moderation. I eat everything- fish, pork, chicken and beef. I guess people say chicken and fish (depending on what kind, of course) is supposedly better only because it is somewhat lower in calories and fat compared to pork and beef.

I wouldn't worry about it and just do what works for you like Seagirl said.
