Hello All
Another person who has decided now is the time.
I was a very healthy active kid until I hit 14 or so.
Since then I've been struggling with my weight. I had a period after my father suddenly passed away when I compulsively exercised and was obsessed with eating nothing more than salad. I was also popping caffeine pills constantly to keep me going. I of course lost a ton of weight, quickly, too quickly. But once you get a few of those 'you look great' comments... it's addictive isn't it?
I started dating my now husband and the unhealthy obsession with exercising and NOT eating finally calmed down. Than over the years stress, bad eating habits and culinary school packed the pounds back on. A few years ago my husband and I decided we could slowly start better eating habits and have been switching out empty calories for healthier ones. More veggies, whole grain breads, whole wheat pastas, etc.
We have most of the everyday habits in place now, so I know I can finally take off the weight and keep it off, I just need a push to commit to exercising and staying away from the all too frequent junk food binge.
I've got a daughter who just turned one and I refuse to be a bad example for her growing up. She's already ahead of the game, loves all her veggies and eats nothing but healthy food. But I know how quickly that can change when she grows a little older and notices Mum seems really excited about that food that comes out of the brown paper bag marked 'Wendy's'. lol
I'm currently at 180 lbs (not my heaviest thankfully, so I feel like I've got a head start haha). I'm hoping to be down to 130 this time next year.
3FC seems like a great place to find support, motivation and somewhere to emphasize your own commitment to the process, just what I need! Looking at the before and after pics in the goal section could make anyone get off the couch!
