Default Tanning

I've never really ever been able to tan until these past couple of years. I've always burned and then peeled and there goes my tan. Now if I get red on my arms I actually tan! But my legs are a different story. I don't go to a tanning bed I just kinda tan when we are outside. My question is how do I get my legs to tan?! They are soooo white and no matter how long I'm outside they never even get red, muchless a tan. Anyone have any suggestions? Or any products I could try?

try self tanners. I've had good success with them. They even fooled me. I usually go for the gradual tans that you put on every day. Then if you don't do it evenly one day it isn't really obvious

Self tanners, agreed. Or spray tan. A lot safer to have and evenness concerns can be dealt with by exfoliating and careful application.

As you can tell by my location and avatar, I'm not a tanner. But even as a kid in southern California I was no great sun worshipper. Too much effort and way too many health hazards for someone as fair-skinned as me.

I like the Hawaiian Tropic daily moisturizer with a bit of self tanner in it. That reminds me, I need to buy another tube.

For real self tanner, I'm partial to Bare Escentuals Faux Tan.

Having already had melanoma at age 27 (thankfully it was only superficial, but as a result I have a gross scar and have to go back for skin checks frequently), I just want to remind you to please please be really careful in the sun! No tan is worth skin cancer.

But to answer your question, in my experience it's always been really hard to tan evenly anyway, so I would echo the spray-tan suggestion. Or that daily glow lotion stuff works if you're consistent with it.

Fake tan, definitely. I've heard great things about the St. Tropez mousse tan. I avoid natural tan because I'm scared I'll get wrinkles (which is quite irrational, because I'll get wrinkles anyway). But it's also just not healthy, so I'd much rather avoid exposing myself for too long under the sun, use SPF and apply a self tanner if I feel like it. I don't mind my natural paleness though.
