Default Does this sound right?

So back in March of this year i took my measurements and i weighed in at 164.2lbs. Today i took my measurements again and i weighed in at 151.8. Now weight wise that is a loss of 12.4lbs. And doing some calculating i found out that over all i lost about 8.5 inches from my body. I measured boobs, chest, waist, hips, thigh, calves, upper arm and forearm. Does this sound right? Losing only about 12 and a half lbs and losing 8.5 inches from my body? Or have i messed up REALLY bad with my measuring? I mean 9 inches sounds like a lot...

Well, 8.5 inches in eight places means about an inch in each place, which sounds right to me.

Yeah, well in some places i lost half an inch and in some i lost over an inch. It just seems like such a large number for only losing 12lbs...but this is my first time doing measurements, before i just went by weight. But of course i read on here that you can lose inches but be the same weight. I guess it makes sense, i think i'm just weird. Thanks!!

It sounds fine. If you'd measured 4 places on your waist, and lost an inch on each, it doesn't mean you lost 4 inches on your waist.

Maybe just keep track of each measurement on its own, rather than adding them all up and thinking it means something other the just the total of a bunch of numbers.

Sounds right to me. In April I lost 8.4 pounds and a total of almost 38 inches. I measured in a ton of places though (19 including 3 spots on each arm and 4 spots on each leg).

Ok, so i'm not as crazy as i thought. I do have the measurements separated so i can keep track of each body part individually. Thanks everyone!

Measuring takes practice. If you only do it once every couple months you're bound to be a little off.

How we lose weight/inches varies.

I'd suggest measuring more often. You'll see less progress per mesaurement but you'll have greater accuracy.
