Hello everyone!
I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I was a chubby child, I was a chubby adolescent, I was a chubby teenager, and now I'm 30 years old and weigh somewhere around 300 pounds, though I haven't weighed myself in probably a year. I've had my fair share of dieting woes with ups and downs (more gain than loss maybe?) since I seem to add on a little more each time when I give up.
When I was about 20 I was diagnosed with PCOS and borderline diabetes. Because of this I have had difficulties really losing weight. Most times I just can't stay motivated and usually quit after 3 or 4 months of being on a diet. I have tried and tried and tried to lose weight. A lot of times I feel like I'm doing good and then I get depressed and fall into a slump just to gain a ton back.
I am hoping that by joining a support group I can get some pointers and hopefully stay more motivated in my quest for a more fit, trim, and healthy lifestyle.
Today I made a new step in being healthy by replacing bad foods I loved with healthy foods that I love.
I've also read that I need to reduce my carbs and stay away from them at evening meal times since it will turn to fat faster. I've read that I should choose foods that are fresh or frozen instead of canned in order to reduce my sodium. I've also read that I should choose foods with a low glycemic index value so that my sugars will stay more level throughout the day. I've also read that I need to build up muscle mass since increased muscle will help me burn more calories overall.
Tomorrow I'm going to buy a blender so I can make breakfast smoothies packed with fresh vegetables and fruits. And I'm also going to buy some weights so I can start increasing my muscle mass. I'm also going to start walking and hiking again.
And my biggest bane... slowly but surely cut out soda for good.
Well, I hope I get a chance to meet other ladies out there who don't mind kicking my butt once in a while to keep me motivated.
(and I also need to lose weight because I am running out of shirts that I can fit into...)
