Grace, I started SB two months ago. I have NOT been hungry. I feel great! I found I spent a lot in the first few weeks but once I got my staples stocked I don't spend any more on food than I used to, maybe even less. If you did low carb before I think you'll find this diet more flexible and satisfying. I rarely feel like I'm missing anything on this diet.
I love soups so I make a big pot of soup every few days. Then I just reheat it for lunch. If you don't mind eating the same thing for a few days, that is a great quick and easy lunch. Another thing I made a lot in P1 was chopped salads with chick peas, black eyed peas, or black beans. Chick peas, cucumbers, tomatoes, kalamata olives, feta, fresh parsley -- or black eyed peas, shredded spinach, tomatoes, feta, kalamata olives -- both are great with a greek style lemon juice/olive oil dressing. Quick and you can make them ahead of time. These are all cheap too.
I am about your age and I've found to keep my energy level up I have to pay more and more attention to my diet every year. Also I've gotten less tolerant of many foods, wheat and dairy in particular; something I never realized until I started SB.
Oh and welcome!

If you look at the on plan threads, you will see a lot of lunch ideas.
