Good morning! Pull up a chair in my kitchen. the stove is blazing in the back room and we're nice and cozy. You can even have a needy dog on your lap if you like. It's very cold this morning at -18ºF and the pooches came dashing in shivering. Crazy weather!
Survived yesterday's normal busy day just fine. I plan to beat this lingering cold into submission soon because enough is enough! This morning I am off to the service station for an oil change and just realized I forgot to to bake for the guys who were so good with my quick transmission fix last week. Next time!
We get back to pet therapy this morning at the nursing home. There will be three new residents today as there have been three recent deaths and those beds don't stay empty long. Very sad but Maple View gives very good care. (I've not applied for a room yet though!)
My new avatar is pretty gloomy. It's 3-colour nine-patch quilt pattern which I will NOT make in black and white and gray. I'm thinking yellow, green and blue or pink, purple and lime.
I'm babbling. I guess I miss someone to talk to in the mornings. The dogs are pretty lousy at conversation although Disney tries.
Sit and chat a bit. There's lots of coffee and the mugs are still hot from the dishwasher.
Good morning Ruth! I will sure join you, it sounds too cozy not too I also will only pour coffee into a mug that has been warmed. I sure hope you can kick that lingering cold to the curb! Oh and how great is it to bake for people who perform great service...small prices for us to pay, for hopefully continued good service.
A big fat 0 F. degrees here, and sunny.
I did a long catch-up post to hopefully everyone last night
Oh!! A victory...I brought home Oreos and giner cookies, and dipped/drizzled them in chocolate, for my contribution to the Town Meeting Day lunch. And only nibbled on 30 calories' worth of ginger cookies. Threw out the remaining melted chocolate!
Ruth, come on down to stay with me. There's plenty of people here to chat with you in the morning. Especially a very chatty little 4-year-old. I'd much rather be at your table, though, with Jazz curled up in my lap.
Holly, what happy news to find out your car repair will be covered! That's the same thing they thought was wrong with my car, but all I needed was the bolts adjusted and tightened, and they didn't even charge me for it. Good job on getting rid of the extras last night!
I'm back in the normal swing of things today, and this is my long day. It will only be a 3 day work week for me, though.
Oh! I made the red bean & cabbage salad that Twynne recommended yesterday, and it's divine! I'm looking forward to having some for lunch today. Thanks, Tammy!
Ruth - those sure are some good lads over that at the garage, I bet you'll make something wonderful. I love that quilt pattern, but you're right...definately needs color!!
Holly - wow. I'm in awe. That would take a lot for me not to accidently lick out the chocolate bowl. Good for you!
Cottage - glad you liked the salad! I made more last night, but with more cabbage and beans. I have to say, the onion in it is absolutely overpowering. Of course, when I put the onion in my cart and then car, it about made me cry then...I should've just switched them!!
It's only 22 right now, but it will be in the 40's today, and the 60's tomorrow. WHOA! It hasn't been much of a winter, but I'm still looking forward to spring. When can we plant spring greens, does anyone know?!
I have a full day of work, and need to get supper in the crock pot...
just read yesterday's...
Cyndi - How did Julie's day going? How are you doing with this...are you taking good care of yourself?!??!
Hi Ladies:
I forgot what early birds you all are!!! Its a balmy 26 here this morning. Tomorrow 60 and thurs 66! Ruth I have my coffee too but your cozy mornings sound Idyllic! The quilt pattern is lovely. but you're far too colorful for grey.
Holly you survived melted chocolate! That's amazing!
Cottage: Your table sounds pretty fun and chatty this morning too
that cabbage sounds awesome
Twynn what's in the crockpot.
I'm about to throw my food together for the day. Shaking off sleep. Tuesday at work is team meeting day PT later and waiting to hear if I need knee surg.
let's get crackin'
Kierie
I took a few minutes to catch up on yesterday's thread...
Holly, good news! (BTW-agave carrot cake, recipe in our thread)
Cyndi, I'm glad Julie had a good day!
Me, on the run! We're travelling right after work and we spent far too much time drinking coffee this morning. I still have some packing to do. The only way I make this work is to not sit down after work until I'm in the car driving away. I'm taking my lunch to work and will bring DH home something for the road...me, think I'll have one of my Sumo mandarins and I'll save my lunch muffin for driving.
Have a great day everyone...I'm packing the computer and am thinking "hot springs".
Holly - I'm just not a fan, particularly of walnuts which is what I'll be baking with an minute now. BUT, the first time I did SB I ate pistachios every day and finally figured out they give me reflux that feels like an allergic, itchy throat. So I don't eat them anymore I hope I do as well as you today!
Linda - I need to check out that salad. Particularly since it sounds like something "sort of vegan" husband might eat too.
Twynn - Okay... Can't find it. Is there an actual recipe on here for the red beans and cabbage?
Kierie - Today it's busy here but some days lately its' been very quiet. I hope you get the news you want.
Debbie - Enjoy the springs. And try to ignore all the spring break crowds that are likely heading your way any day now if not already.
I'm hosting book club tonight and have lots to do. Baking first because if the recipe is a flop I'll have time for Plan B. Cleaning. Lots of veggies to cut. More cleaning. Finish shopping. Clean again, since by then my husband will have left a mess after lunch on the kitchen counters. Library run for a book that must be picked up today.
No yoga though. I decided I will take off the two weeks. BUT, I do need to get in some stretching and IT band rolling and some ab work. BUSY day.
Hi everyone I'm not sure if anyone remembers me but I used to post here a few years ago. Life got busy and I lost sight of the beach and put on a bunch of weight. I'm slowly trying to get back into the swing of things here and am finishing up phase 1 tomorrow. I've been posting on the weekly food logs but figured I would poke my head in here and say hello! It's nice (& inspiring) to see a lot of familiar names still here
Hiiiiiiiiiiii. I'm crabby. Thank you Ph1! I thoroughly enjoyed the Fake Chicken Spinach Casserole (I added artichokes) last night. Going to try the Lasagna Stuffed Peppers tonight but trying to tweak so it's not a bazillion calories and fat grams.
Also needing some Ph1-friendly snacks that travel well. I'm going to a concert in St Louis on Saturday night, so we're leaving around 4:30 and probably won't be back until around 1am. (ZZZZZZ.) I will take almonds, but I am not one of those people that can eat warm cheese. Celery sticks are a possibility.... Any other ideas? Something that can easily fit in my purse?
Lisa, how about roasted chickpeas or roasted kale, although the kale will probably get crushed in your purse. You could also freeze a container of yogurt and tuck it in a baggie in your purse.
Kelly, I remember you and even saved your beachtowel! You may have to shake the sand off it, though.
Karen, Twynn did post the recipe. Look for it under the Phase 1 salads, perhaps?
