Angry Question for MrsJim

MrsJim, I have been a lurker here for sometime now and I have also lurked/sometimes posted at L&S for years. I hope this is not a" faux pas" for me to ask this question here. Here goes, I just signed up for CPB at L&S and was reading through a few posts this evening anything about that subject catches my eye because I'm not sure what I've signed on for. After reading your post I think I might be in over my head!!! I have completed 3 BFL challenges with wonderful results, I just wanted to lose a little more fat. I have absolutetly no desire to compete in BB or fitness. I just want to look as good as I can and still enjoy my life which does include some unauthorized foods now and then. Is this program mainly for those wanting to compete? I got on CPB board the other day and there were women there who's goal was to be a size 0! I wondered then what the deal was!?!? I was afraid to ask @L&S because they are very protective of Pam and I don't want to step on any toes I certainly am not knocking CPB, I just wish I would have asked before I signed up. Another round of BFL probably would have done the trick Again I'm sorry if this was an inappropriete{SP} ? thanks,Leigh

Welcome, Leigh! Feel free to join us here anytime

The whole fracas started (IMO, in retrospect) as to whether CPB is actually worth the big $$ that is charged for it...if you read this week's thread here at 3FC (I think it's #93 or something like that) then you can get a pretty good overview as to my (as well as Mel and JC's - both veterans of the program) opinion.

I don't blame you for feeling uncomforable about asking over at L&S. Pam is a 'celebrity' and a touchstone for many people over there. If you had asked about CPB before two days ago, no doubt you would've received a lot of praise for the program - mostly from current 'Campers'. My concern - and perhaps Pam will see this or change the program in some way - is MAINTENANCE. For me, both times CPB was a comp or pre-comp diet - and I experienced the 'bounceback' as my metabolism (I believe - I'm not a scientist!) thought I was starving myself and working too hard on too few calories. That's my opinion anyway.

But - you paid for it already so I'll keep my fingers crossed that you don't experience the same bounceback - and you get a bit more 'customized' service (unless you want a refund - don't know her policy on that) than just the 'right' to post at CPB board and get a software-generated menu each week...

Karen, is there a way for Leigh to request a weekly menu that is higher in calories?

i'm just blown away by the revelations of the past few days. thank God there is this voice of reason and honesty here !!!!

thank you Mel and Karen for all your courage and your sincere caring.

Adriana: You can request higher calories but Pam works her program on cycling calories so it wouldn't be high all the time. Also a lot of her food is nutrionally sparse but dense like fibrous vegetables so it's actually hard to eat loads and loads of veggies and get enough calories in. By loads I mean like 9 cups of lettuce in a meal etc.

Leigh - I would suggest that you take people's opinions and make your own decision. If you don't try it then you will never know yourself and I am a big advocate of at least TRYING things even if they don't work out. Like Mel says failure isn't falling down - it's staying down.

Talking Thank's for answering my ?'s

Thanks for the kind replies! I'll just make the best of CPB,my stated goals were very modest so maybe I won't get the real restrictive custom plan I'll be haanging out here and will keep ya'll posted. I didn't realize the Mel here is the same Mel that post's @ L&S Mel's got B***s to stand up to that group
Thank's again!

Agreed, and I think it's a shame that the program can't be discussed without it's fans taking any perceived criticism of it as a personal insult to Pam (and by extension, themselves, maybe?).

No one ever said anything negative about her; I have no doubt she's a wonderful person.
