Default Wednesday's SBD Chat for 2/29

Good morning and Happy Leap Day on this last day of February!

They were calling for a chance of snow or ice this morning, but it's looking like it's just all rain out there.

Well, I'm going to go let the dogs out and hop in the shower before waking the girls up. They were kind of hoping for a school delay this morning, so I'm expecting to hear some moaning and groaning.

I'll be back in a bit for some coffee, so save some for me!

Good Morning

Thanks for starting us up, Linda! There's always coffee here!

I got some sleep last night and have been stirring around for awhile this morning. I have an extra day of work today so I'm off to get the house organized before I leave. I made a great lentil soup yesterday morning and I think I'll get a tofu something prepared before I leave today.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning Linda and Debbie!

I have an early dental cleaning, then will do errands and be back home before our next snowstorm hits. A good excuse for me to stay in and do things that I've been putting off.

Holding my breath for my official end of month weigh-in. I think I will be very close to my (too) ambitious goal!

have a great day!

Good morning!

Linda - we do have a 2 hour delay, I'm not sure why...I don't think it's icy out there. The kids will be happy to sleep in! (although they have to go to work with me for an hour...)

Debbie - I really love your new avatar! mmmmmm...what kind of lentil soup?

Holly - I'm so glad you're enjoying it here on the beach with us!

Well, the kids have a 2 hour delay, so I get to piddle for a while if I want to. I have a few things I need to do, ummm...I should clean the bathroom too....but...coffee is more important, right?!

FWIW - that chicken and bean thing from yesterday? NASTY. I didn't even try to make my kids eat it. That's in my opinion anyone, I guess someone had to like it, right? It was this one: http://www.theperfectpantry.com/2012...bean-stew.html I didn't eat it myself either...I had my leftover lentil soup. The meat itself was okay, the rest didn't do much for me.

Good morning. We are expecting some snow later today as well - a Colorado Clipper. Thanks, Debbie! March looks like she's coming in like a lion. Still coughing too much for the gym today but it IS getting better, I tell myself.

Cottage, I'm so glad I've visited that lovely house as I can visualize you and the girls doing daily things. Hope you enjoyed Chinese food with them last night - I was craving some but resisted.

Thanks for the reminder, Holly. I have a cleaning next week which I rescheduled and forgot to mark on the calendar. Thanks for the reminder about March weightloss - I meant to do that yesterday.

Twynn, so sorry the soup was lousy. You id have one of those days, didn't you? Buses aren't delayed here but probably will be tomorrow - we won't get "it" until suppertime, they say.

My sister is off to Vancouver tomorrow for ten days - she is trying to ignore her 70th birthday! We don't send BD gifts anymore, just cards, but this is a "special BD so I have tickets at the National Arts Centre for West Side Story. That'll be fun as we used to sing those songs together back in the 60's. I am still in shock over paying so much for the tickets!

Have a quickie (I hope!) meeting of the Quilting Biddies Executive this morning and then the day is mine again. I have some chickens stock thawed and am going to make a chicken, veggie soup. I may hot it up so it'll burn out the rest of this cold. Save me a bit of tofu, Debbie!

Time for more coffee, Did I mention how much I love my Keurig?

Good morning again, Debbie, Holly, Twynn & Ruth.

Debbie, how are you going to fix your tofu? I don't eat it very often, but I do like it crispy sauteed and drizzled with BBQ sauce. Have fun at work today!

Holly, I hope you have a great weigh-in, and good luck making it back home before the next snowstorm!

Twynn, that's too bad that the soup was a bust, but you wouldn't have known until you tried it. Are you getting much snow? What I thought was rain was actually morning dew, and it's not doing anything out there. There's even some patches of blue in the sky. I think we're going to get it later, though.

Ruth, I'm quite envious of those theatre tickets! West Side Story is a favorite of mine, and I know you and Joan will have a fabulous time! What a great birthday treat for her! I hope that cough is finally exiting! And yes, the Chinese was pretty good last night.

After I get the girls off, I'm going up the hill to Susie's for my Wednesday visit, and then I think I'm just going to putz around until it's time to pick them up. If it's not raining, they want to ride this afternoon, and Audrey wants to try out her Baby Cakes maker. I promise I won't sample!

Good morning We are in the path of this snowstorm apparently. I hope it turns out to be more build-up than storm, we have two very busy days with lots of driving. I'm sure we will be home today before it gets ugly, just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings

Cottage - I don't use tofu much either. For awhile I was using it a lot, roasting it then using it in other things. Then I got lazy again
Enjoy your day

Debbie - glad you got some sleep, especially with an extra work day. I've been craving lentil soup, need to get a pot going soon

Holly- good luck with your weigh-in

Twynn - Bummer about that recipe. Maybe I'll avoid the recipes from imperfect pantry

Ruth - Hope that chicken soup finishes of that cough

Okay, lots of planning to do if we are going to be away from home for 5 hours. It's certainly more complicated than it used to be. Speaking of, my plug for the day - it's International Rare Diseases Day. Myasthenia Gravis is one of many, many rare diseases out there. /end public service announcement

Happy hump day, hope yours isn't a huge snow pile!

Ruth, sorry about the snow! : I never heard of the Colorado snow getting your way. Say hi to the biddies!

Linda, I'm going to crispy saute the tofu with sesame oil, sprinkle w/sesame seeds and a tamari/ginger dribble then serve with a salad w/oriental dressing.

Twynn, I hate it when all the effort of something new is something even Mikey won't eat. Hope your day is better. I did my quickie lentil soup...sauteed onion, pitch in lentils, add water and veggie boullion, boil then add curry powder. I made it before work then added butternut squash and tofu before serving. Amazingly easy.

Holly, you are way close to your monthly goal! Congrats!

Ok, off to finish chores!

I was going to make that stew, Twynn...I meant to make it a few days ago, but made something else instead. Thanks for the warning! lol Jenn made it too, I wonder if she liked it and if she made any changes to the recipe. Are you around this morning, Jenn?

Cottage, is it the Babycakes cupcake maker? I LOVE my Babycakes. I haven't used it as much since I started SB but it is such a fun little kitchen tool. I can make fresh breakfast muffins for my daughter in not much more time than it takes to fix a bowl of cereal. i have made some awesome desserts with it too. This may be crazy but I was thinking about trying little mini meatloaves in it...I miss using my Babycakes!

I was going to dust off my running shoes today but it looks like tornado weather so I think I'll put it off one more day. I will get some exercise though.

Have a great morning everyone!

LOL! Oh and thank you for the link about MG. I had never heard of it and I did see where you referenced it once before but I didn't want to be nosy or prying. sounds terribly challenging to deal with but how great your dw has you as a partner to help.

I am very and because I did meet my Feb. weightloss goal of 7 lbs. I am so glad I have this place for support and info, because I couldn't have done it on my own! THANK YOU ALL

I am here! I am here!

Good morning, er, afternoon all

When I made it, I did add more rosemary, added onion/garlic Mrs. Dash, I used Chicken tenders, added brown rice to the last 40 minutes of the first 3 hours, added red AND orange peppers, used some of the bean liquid and a whole lemon's juice and then salt to taste. I think that is it. We really liked it. And loved the leftovers.

Hi Everyone!

Yes, that's the one. She received it as a Christmas present and hasn't had the chance to try it yet. I should get it out to check and make sure we have everything we'll need.

We've been getting a steady downpour since around 10am. At least it's not snow, so I won't complain. Between the weather and reading the posts about soup, though, I'm in the mood for a good, tummy warming soup. Hmmm, Pumpkin Chili sounds pretty good, and I'm sure the girls would like it, too. And if they don't, they can eat the leftover pizza.

Cyndi, I hope the storm isn't as bad as predicted and that you're back home before it hits. Be careful!

Debbie, set out an extra place setting for me, please! That sounds yummy!

Using the term "Colorado Clipper" sure puts folks around here in a tizzy! Looks like we will get a bit of snow and then it'll turn to rain and above normal temperatures overnight.

Had my quickie meeting this morning at the coffee shop in Elgin - sure is faster than being at somebody's house! We resolved some stuff before Monday's meeting and I also made it to the Mill Office and did some things there. Now the car is in the barn and the dogs and I are going to try for an afternoon nap and wait for the alleged storm. The soup WILL get done later today.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
