Ok ladies. I had a kid free hour yesterday so I went to try on bras. It's been a long time since I bought a new one.
I'm baffled. Like completely stumped. I tried on at least 30 bras and every single one of them was too big in the band. The lowest band size I could find was a 30A (and I need a DD I'm guessing with a band that small). I KNOW I'm not the tiniest (or even remotely close) woman on the planet. WHY do they only make bras in 32-40??? In the 32 I could still fold the band over in the back a good inch. It wasn't tight enough for support. I ended up buying a 32D and will have to wear a compression tank over it to keep my girls up where they belong... I'm so confused!
I really have nothing useful to say as I don't live in the states, but I know here we have plenty small band size + big cupsize. Must be because a lot of Dutch girls are tall but/and thin.
I've always had a hard time finding bras.. I'm not tiny either but I need a smaller band size than I can usually find. I also wear a DD and all I can generally find are 38's and 40's. I need a 34. It's annoying, definitely.
Have you tried Nordstroms? They should have a good selection in a 30DD, although once you need a 28, it'll be more difficult, but there are some sports bras in that size.
I'm a 30 band too. Nothing other than 30A in most stores, so I've been doing my bra shopping online. I'm a 30F/FF in UK sizes or 30G/H in US sizes. It's annoying because I like to be able to try on my bras before I buy them, but I've had a bit of luck ordering online so far.
Have you been measured/measured yourself? Do you know what bra size you might need?
For now, if you have old bras sitting around you can take in the band so you get more support. It's not the most glamorous method (your boobs may look smaller or squashed down) but it can at least provide you with some support in the meantime. I did that before I ordered some bras online because I was going CRAZY without a tight band.
runningfromfat can help you with this issue---and I have a feeling you'll need to size yourself and buy online. How topical...I bought 4 new bras today, 2 diff manufacturers, same sizes, 38DD. I used to wear 42D and apparently it was the wrong band size to begin with. If running is online today, she'll find your post.

Thanks! I've seen her talk about this. I'm gonna go check out her blog.
I feel your pain, though -- I'm a 32, far above a DD, and it's bleeding impossible to find my size in the USA. It was much easier to buy bras at my heaviest, when I was a 38D!
So I order online ... some of my favorite brands are Freya, Simone Perele and Curvy Kate. It took a little back and forth to figure out my sizing in those brands, but between my experience getting measured and being able to return and exchange bras, I figured it out.
See... that's the thing. Maybe I have bad luck? Last time I was measured she suggested a bra that was far too big for me. After half a day of wearing it my girls were nearly falling out the bottom. Where is a good place to get measured?
I don't trust anyone to measure me. I do it myself. Evy time I've been measured, they have measured wrong. 5 shops in 3 states.
I have a large rib cage and I need a 34, so I can imagine what it must be like for those with much narrower rib cages. Impossible. Girls with not much weight must just wear too big of a band, girls with more boobage need that tight band to support the girls!
Tjmaxx and nordstrom rack are my go to place for bras because those 70 bras go for 10 to 28 dollars. I was lucky to find a 32 gg for 3 dollars once. I always check because I know i'mgoing to get smaller.

Yep.... Me too. Just got a 34f chantelle for way cheap at Off 5th outlet and a 36ddd at TJmaxx.

I finally measured myself and found that I should be wearing a 50G/H.
Last time Lame Bryant measured me, they told me I wear a 46DDD. Gee, could that be because that's the biggest they carry?
Running From Fat!!! Where are you??? Is there a store I can order a bunch to try on, with easy returns?
I'll check Ross and TJMaxx when I get a chance.
I am so mad about my lack of proper boob gear... I feel a bit panicky about resolving it now, for some reason. I tried on all my bras and they all fit terribly!
