Default Lose It

Has anyone used the Lose It App or been to loseit.com?

I just stumbled across this app today (it was free, so of course i downloaded it...lol) and I really like it. I'm wondering how accurate the calorie budgets are though. I'm 5'9" and 252 pounds and it told me that in order to lose 2 pounds a week my daily calorie budget is 1755. Is this accurate?

I love how it lets me track what I eat and my exercise and everything...but I have never counted calories before (i used to do WW and am used to counting points), so I don't know what would be considered normal.

There are several apps and websites for tracking calories. I am using myfitnesspal right now. Though the best app for me is calorie counter from fatsecret because it also has all the dutch brands so I might go back to that. You can scan the barcode of products and it knows it right away! So handy. Always looking to try out new apps! Hihi.

Wether it is accurate or not is hard to say. You should look it up on several websites and see what the average is. Also just try it out... those calculators are all based on a few pretty vague variables. What's best to calculate is your -current- BMR, your basic calorie need per day. Then subtract between 500 and 1000 calories a day depending on how much you exercise and activity level. Remember, it takes 3500 calories to kill off a pound.

I'm a lot smaller than you are, and my BMR is about 1640. I can't subtract 500 calories a day because it's advised in numerous places that you don't go below 1200 calories a day. So I need to exercise a bit more to get a good deficit.

Anyhow, goodluck on the calorie counting. The apps are a great help. Oh, and use a scale! I thought I knew how much a tablespoon or half a pound approximately looks like, was I wrong. Hihi.

I use the Lose It! app on my iPhone and I absolutely adore it! Using the "Scan Barcode" feature when you are logging foods is just too easy. Plus it seems to have a huge food database and you can always input the nutritional info yourself.

I wondered the same thing about the recommended calories to lose 2 lbs/week. I'm 5'6 and around 210 and mine tells me to eat about 1,511/day. I eat right at that or sometimes a little below and I've been steadily losing for almost 4 weeks now. I think it seems fairly accurate and it adjusts your calorie budget as you lose, which I love.

I am a fan of Lose It. I dont use it regularly, but if i want to track calories for a few days to see where i'm at, i jump on. I love that it allows me to store my own foods, and exercises too. I eat a lot of the same stuff so that makes it really simple and user-friendly.

It might be. I use fitness pal and I'm 179 at 5'11 and to lose 1lb it puts me at 1740.
