Default 300+ and getting fit after 40 - #293

This group is for those dealing with the challenges of being fit when you have a significant amount of weight to lose which becomes harder after age 40. If you're an old or new friend and not over 40 and feel this is the place to post, jump right in!

Started the new thread when I realized it was a new month.

It's one of the most challenging months of the year. Let's plan to do our best to come out without gaining.

Thanks, Judy!!

I'm struggling too. A lot. I've gained back 15 pounds in 13 weeks. Totally off the rails.

So, today is reset day.
I need to write down everything.

We all know we are going to have bad times this month. Lets take a new approach...if we eat bad one meal, not let it ruin the day. Make it work out by eating less later in the day or whatever it takes. Im also going to do my dvd

I woke during the night thinking about what I would eat this weekend while DH was out of town - and it wasn't healthy choices. It was very scary - so I will get myself back in the game and eat POP - try to carb detox completely in the next few days. It's not pretty when I try to get rid of those carbs.

I'm glad I was able to have this talk with myself - I have to take care of me!

We discovered Hillshire Farms has a seasoned precooked chicken breast fillets in your meat case with lunch meat. This is perfect to make a sandwich with or eat with veggies. You can get 2 of them for about 3.50, hubby loves them!!

I had a better food day yesterday than I had in a long time. Still wasn't great. Going to try again today.

My husband now works from home 2 days a week, so I've started trying to eat lunch with him on those days (it's been part of the large number of changes that have thrown my weight-loss routine out the window and stomped on it). I'm trying to eat larger lunches and smaller dinners, the theory being that there's no point in eating a bigger meal before bed and a smaller meal before evening workouts, etc. But instead, now I'm eating a larger meal for lunch and then grazing my way through far too many calories at night. I'm going to have to get back into a regularly scheduled caloric and exercise routine soon, or I'm doomed...

Better day yesterday - amazing how the scale shows it. I struggled a bit at the end of the day - need to figure that one out.

Brrrrr! Frosty cold, sunny morning here.

Yesterday was decent. I used a couple extra points but I also ate lots of fresh veggies. No big plans for today. Should dig out the mini Christmas tree and plug it in.

Don't forget to remember to do something for yourself today!

Smile

Stressed to the point of collapse! I now know what disable means.

We finally decided to put the house on the market. I know it is not a good time to sell property, but this is something that needs to be done. I just had my 78th birthday and DH is 81. This house and acrerage is just too much for us old folks to care for. LOL! I am trying to get everything nice and clean and then hopefully keep it that way. (maybe if I could ship DH off somewhere?) Big, big house and no energy to keep it up! I think it will be after the first of the year before I let them list it. Say a prayer for me ! LOL! I probably will need it and a big dose of patience.

Not doing so good with the food either, another stress thing.

If we sell, I have no idea where we will go. I want to move closer to the kids. Dh wants to stay in this area. I don't know who will win that one. We are both stubborn.

I guess that is enough rant for now. I hope you are all doing well today. Big Ruth

NSV (non scale victory)

I took a chance last week. I saw a great deal on line at Woman Within and decided to order a couple pairs of new jeans. I was wearing 34's when I went back to WW in June. I ordered 28's as an incentive to stay OP so I could wear them in a few months.

They arrived on Sat. and yesterday I opened them and, for the heck of it, decided to see how far I had to go to get them over my bum and tummy, reminding myself that "They won't fit. They're not supposed to - so don't get into a tizzy when you can't get them on. They're a reward for your future!". Was I ever shocked when I pulled them up and they slid all the way up. I won't say they fit perfectly and wouldn't want to try sitting for hours in them, but Holy Cow, I got them on!!!!!! I was shocked and amazed! Guess they'll be a short term incentive cause I think after another 5 to 7 lb loss they'll fit comfortably. It's been about 7 or 8 yrs, at least, since I was comfy in 28's. I can't wait!

RUTH: No matter where you move know you are making the right decision. I have dear friends who are a bit older than you two. They decided, after years of talking around it, that the house and 25 acres was just too much and moved to a lovely flat near their daughter. It's a couple hours away, in a picture perfect small town, and they love it. The only hard thing is that they miss their circle of friends but we all do our best to visit them and entertain them on their visits "home". Good luck with the sale and remember "change IS good".

Y'all have a great day and stick to your goals.

Hug to Ruth and a big shout out to Judy!!!

I'm dong a little better eating wise, and we even went to the gym on Saturday. Today I am baking cookies all day long, so that will be a challenge...

But I'm feeling a little more optimistic that I can get back on track.
