Default The one thing I said I'd never do...

Ok so I said I wouldn't buy any "too small" clothes - I told myself I was only gonna buy the clothes I needed to fit into as I lost weight... But then I found this sexy little dark blue dress yesterday in the size I want to be eventually and I guess I just couldn't help myself.

So my question is this: has anyone gone from a size 12 to an 8, how much did you lose, and how long did it take? I tried to stay away from torturing myself like this but now I'm just curious when I'll get to wear this thing lol - and who knows, maybe it'll turn out to be a good motivator. Thanks for reading

It depends on the individual, everybody is different. I usually drop a size at about 15 pounds. I never buy clothes in an anticipated size as I have found they not look as good as you think they will in your new size. may

I'm 5'4", 158 pounds on a good day lately. When I started I was 185 and a size 14 -15. At around 170 I was back into my size 12 clothing. 165 I was in 10s. Now I'm a size 8. The closer I get to goal it seems the less weight I lose before I'm in the next size.

As far as weight goes, it's distributed differently for everyone. I'm 5'5 and was once 200 pounds, and now I'm 166. I remember being about a 16 at 192, so I lose a size every nine or ten pounds, since I'm a 12 now. I don't like tight-fitting clothes either, so my size in jeans is either a good fit or a little loose.

I don't tend to buy smaller clothes on purpose, because every time I try them on, they just make me feel bigger, even if I've been losing weight. It depends on the person, but if you know you're going to take it out every day, or every few days, as a measuring tool, it might be best to resist buying smaller sizes. Those kind of things can get into your brain.

I can't even tell you how long it takes for me to drop a size because my body is really odd. Sometimes I've dropped 15 pounds before going down a size, other times only 5.

Now apparently I've gone down a size or two without the scale even moving! It's really weird!

I started out at 200lbs at a size 14/16. Sometimes I was an 18. I was a solid 18 back in high school, but I don't know my weight.

Now I wear a 4/6 at 146 pounds.

I think it really depends on the clothes and the person... I just bought two Lucky Brand jeans and a pair of Michael Kors jeans from the thrift store because I knew I would never see them again... I am going to lose the weight because I could almost zip the jeans when I tried them on. Just trust your body and when it happens it happens. I had a pair of Levis that I bought too small and I thought it would take 10 pounds to fit in them and it only took 5...

I went from an 11/12 and am probably now on the 8/9 side of things - I'm fitting into my size 9s quite nicely and I have some size 8 dresses that look good on me, if a bit loose (style of the dress though I think) so it's taken me about 30 pounds or so, and roughly 5 months, to drop 2 dress sizes.

One thing to keep in mind though, is it depends where you lose weight from first, and how quickly you lose weight. I'm taking the slow & winding road for weight loss because I'm not willing to give up my occasional treats like eating slightly unhealthy foods, so I've had gains during my weight loss journey, as well as losses.

Let's see, I was about a 12 at your weight too (we're the same height) and I can fit into some 8's at this point (but I have a large bust so I typically can't buy shirts/dresses off the rack unless they're really stretchy in the bust), mostly in pants. I'm guessing in another 5-10lbs or so I'll be solidly in 8's (so around 165lbs?). Although with the right shapewear+ well fitting bra you might be able to fit into a bit sooner.
