2nd go and WILL make it this time!
Hello, I am new here, I read a few posts and found it uplifting!
I have always been overweight since I was a child, and I had just "gotten used" to being the weight I was - not exactly obese, but getting to the limit of having to shop in "larger figure" stores. That started to depress me. Once I hit 72 kg, for 158 cm (158lb for 5ft2), I thought, I gotta do something.
I had already had fluctuated weight, depending on my job, through 2 pregnancies (where ironically I gained very little) and then I had lost some when I used to bike to work, which I then gained back when I changed jobs. But this time I really wanted to lose a load! I was really starting to feel not just cuddly but FAT!
So in 2008 I went on a high-protein diet (Dukan diet) and I lost 12 kilos. or 25 pounds over 5 months. I felt great and full of energy. I did keep the weight off for a time, but through some stressful personal problems, and not following the rules of the diet's maintenance plan (foolish woman I am) it crept back and eventually I put back around 8 kg.
Feeling motivated, I am now currently back on my weight loss program and so far have lost 2kg (5lb) and need to lose 6 or 8 more kilos, at least. I know that it is not much which is why I am sure I can do it! But this time I need to make much more effort at maintaining the weight loss.
I am looking forward to chatting about our success stories and getting some motivation (and giving some) when the road gets tough!
Good luck to one and all!
Antipodes.
