Default The travel test...

So as part of my introduction at the beginning of the week I mentioned I travel alot. Which means airport food and eating out. It also usually means dinner meetings.

Well today is day 1 of traveling since I started this.

Ok so I thought I'd post what I ate on here for accountability.

Airport Breakfast - yoplait low fat yogurt & 12 oz sugar free skinny latte
Airport Snack - Jerky
Lunch - Salad at Salad Creations (spinach, chicken, avocado, black beans and mango vignette)
Snack - ProMax Protein Bar

(I'll Post dinner later)

Notes:

The airport was pure torture. Even the so-called healthy things available had bread or some type of similar carb. Being 4 days in I am craving bread and sweets like CRAZY INSANE. When I smell it or see it I can literally taste it. It probably doesn't help that I am totally PMS'd. I should have started TOM yesterday but nothing yet.

Lunch was difficult because I had to walk through a whole mall to get to it. And I so wanted the pretzels and ice cream and garlic bread and sushi....yummmmm....

Thanks to all of you for being my sounding board and holding my hand through this.

Candice - YOU CAN DO THIS!! No matter how good it smells, it is not worth it right now. Later on, you will be able to make a decision and have some of those modified choices. They will wait - I promise.

Someone on here said the following "I have often regretted eating something, but when I think about it, I have never ACTUALLY regretted NOT eating something."

We had a list of things people do and don't miss, and although we all found literal foods that we missed, the best part was finding out all the self-worth we were finding. The emotional well-being wins out over garlic bread (almost) any day.

Be well -

Update:

Dinner - Lemon Rosemary Chicken Breasts with asparagus & Brussel Sprouts

Note: I decided on room service because not being faced with the temptation of seeing what I can't have I thought was a good idea. The dish was supposed to come with mashed potatoes and I asked them to switch it for asparagus.

I'm feeling pretty good about today.

Way to go Crcossel. I promise the cravings go away! I used to crave the bad carbs and sweets too. Ugh! I went to a fair-themed bunco party the other night...funnel cake, homemade mini donuts, cotton candy, caramel apples, corn dogs. I had none of it!! And the only people pressuring me to eat it were the women who are bigger than me...I found that kind of funny. My point is...I had NO desire to eat any of it! Then afterwards, most of the ladies were complaining about tummy aches and what not. But I felt great!! I had my sandwich I brought with and I felt just fine with it.

We can do this! And it will all be worth it when you start to notice your body feeling so much better....it will definitely thank you!

Oh thanks so much for that. I hope you're right because I feel like they are killing me right now. I locked myself in my hotel room last night so I wouldn't be tempted right now.

The worst thing right now is there is something inside my head that is telling me that no matter how hard I try when away from home I'm still going to come back to a gain. It's kind of depressing.

Crcossel,

I understand completely what you are going through. I was doing great but went to Europe on vacation and couldn't read some of the menus, they had pasta or pastries everywhere. At least most airports you can find something healthy and on plan. Thank goodness I did not gain one single pound! I'm sure it was due to all the walking I did but I'm starting SB Phase 1on Monday!

Hi Candice,

Great job! Last time I went to a conference, it sucked. First thing I do when I get off the plane is hit a CVS or other pharmacy nearby and get some staples: water (hotel water is usually double if not triple), V8, nuts, jerky and yogurt (plain). Sometimes I pick up hard boiled eggs or a SF/LowCarb protein bar because, to be honest, if I am around cookies and candies and chips at my conference, I'm going to want something sweet. Most times, I don't eat it but knowing it's there helps me if I feel so weak.

Today, I went into the store to pick up some spinach and I passed the chip aisle - in fact I walked down it, and had no desire for any of it. I realized a lot of the want is emotional, and since I was feeling good, I didn't need any of it! I've learned that one little "cheat" here or there is not ok for me because it turns into an avalanche. I had some popcorn at the theatre today too - I used to polish off a large by myself - and ate 1/2 a small and felt icky. I asked DW to take it from me because it was not what I wanted and out of habit I was just eating.

You will get there, promise! Way to stick with it!

Don't forget you can take food with you to handle the airport, the only thing you can't take with you is liquid. My mom is on a very strict diet and she takes her breakfast and lunch with her when she travels.

You did a great job.

Ok so yesturday was pretty good.

Breakfast - skinny latte w/ ham, tomato, cheddar omelet
Lunch - 1/2 chicken fajitas w/o tortillas or rice
snack - protein bar
dinner - bean soup and chicken fajitas w/o tortillas or rice

My only cheat was 4 tortilla chips before dinner because I felt like I was about to pass out. I waited to long to eat.
