Hey everybody. I'm new here, I have been fat all my life, but after high school I managed to lose 30 lbs! I look great, I have finally come into my own with my look and hair and makeup and clothes, but I just quit smoking (cigarettes, and even that I'm having small relapses) and I've started gaining some weight back. My boyfriend eats garbage all the time >_<
I want to start eating and being more active, I work a lot as a server, but I wanna continue to lose weight. I no longer have teenage angst and depression, so I wanna use my excitement over summer and recent happiness to fuel a little weight loss ^_^

I was looking online at diets and programs and every quiz I took said because I'm a bit of a social butterfly I should get into a support group. I love posting in forums so I'm gonna give this a shot!

Hey! Congrats on 30 lbs lost and feeling great. It can be so hard sometimes losing weight while having a boyfriend... a lot of dating is centered around food and drinks etc. For me its been really helpful coming clean to him about wanting to lose weight, so he knows not to tempt me with dangerous stuff haha.

A big hurdle for me is partying... food just always seems to be the natural end of the night. I imagine its the same for smoking pot, but I try not to smoke anything anymore. Good luck!

Out of curiosity, how do you manage the munchies from the pot while trying to lose weight?

i can relate to this so much! my boyfriend has a medical club card (CA) and he gets some straight chronic that makes you munch out like no other! I usually go okay through out the week with my diet but on the weekend I smoke with him and eat like everything lol

I am really finding some of this inappropriate to talk about considering there are younger people on the board.

Well it is something that some people do have to deal with. It's no lie that it does make you want to eat more and we should strive to help those cut the habit and subsequently cut the pounds as well. :3

Did not mean to offend anyone, but let's be honest here. This is internet and I'm sure they've seen/heard worse. People talk about drinking here...Medical Marijuana is legal, so I don't see anything wrong with this topic, mam.

I look at it the same as getting "munchies" from anything else, like emotional eating. If you HAVE to do it I think if it's in moderation and somewhat healthy it can be okay. Nuts and berries man. Sorry for being inappropriate ^_^

Mam?

Of course there is worse out there but it does not make it right. I was just thinking that bragging about smoking pot which in my opinion is how it sounds is not the greatest thing to be discussed on this board. *shrug* If everyone feels ok with it that is fine, I was throwing my opinion out there and nobody needs to get upset with that.

Yeah I'm actually trying to smoke a lot less. I believe in "everything in moderation", but right now I am using a bit more than what people would consider "moderate." I'm trying to be much healthier in everything I do. It's all part of the adventure. I want to find natural ways to lose weight, I'm also trying to cut out processed meats and cheeses, at least at the grocery store. I wanna try to buy REAL meat and dairy...

I found some advice on another forum about curbing snacking urges with ice cubes, fruit, even gum. Me I try to sing, lol. Just trying new stuff

Gum has become my best friend since quitting smoking and trying to lose weight. If I sang there would be complaints from the family.

I actually gave up smoking because I am trying to land a job, but am seriously considering not starting again since its (food related) effect on me is less 'munchy' and more 'compulsive eating'.

Congrats on the weight loss and feeling comfortable in your skin. I have a feeling that is going to be harder than the weight loss, for me.

Tinneranne, where are you in Buffalo? My husband and I own a few houses there that we rent out. He is actually there now getting one place ready for the new tenant.

I agree that this is highly inappropriate.
I see the swill pit of society has decided to move in on 3fatchicks.com
I will block this site from my kids today.
If I see more of this cropping up, I'll stop recommending the site to co-workers and friends. I don't want to be seen as promoting druggies.
