Thumbs down One day on the Dukan Diet..

I posted yesterday about trying to Dukan Diet while still tracking. The book promises AMAZING results after just one day of following the plan. I followed the plan faithfully for one day (Yesterday) and was so excited to see these amazing results so I hop on the scale this morning and instead of seeing a loss, there was a GAIN of 3lbs!

I think the reason the book says people will see super fast results the first day is because many people start out on the plan heavier than I am at the moment. If I had started back when I was 267lbs, sure I may have seen a loss of 10lbs the first week. I will say this and it's only my personal opinion, it was definately difficult mentally to follow this plan for a single day. I ate nothing but meat, cottage cheese, and greek yogurt. I wanted carbs, carbs, and MORE CARBS! I'm used to eating fruit and whole grains so I missed these two food groups terribly yesterday but it was a learning experience. I have been doing Weight Watchers for quite a while and I think my body simply likes this plan better and refuses to try anything else!

I have been stressing so much about these last few pounds and maybe that's the reason they're NOT coming off! I'm going to quit worrying when I'm going to get to goal and whenever these last 10lbs decide to come off, they'll come off. Back to PointsPlus I go and I'm so happy to be back where I belong because the lat 24 hours seemed like an eternity.

I have been doing the same thing, stressing out over still being around 200 lbs. Can't seem to get off that 198 mark. Just keep pushing through, we both will make it.

I remember stressing about getting below 200lbs! I wanted it so bad because I hadn't been below that number in YEARS. When the day finally came I literally cried because I was so proud of myself for sticking to it. You're going to get there, just keep pushing forward!

For now I'm going to quit worrying about when I'm going to reach goal! The most important thing is I'm healthier than I've ever been in my entire life, I can do things with my kiddos that I couldn't before, and my marriage is much better because I'm happier.

I've been plan hopping since I joined this board, which is why I weigh about what I weighed when I first came here at the end of the last century (I gained about 30 pounds during that time, too. I've always been tempted by the quick weight loss promises and results of low carb. I lost 8 pounds in a week on Atkins the week before I joined here. Some people can live on meat and cheese, it seems, forever, but I can't. Kimberly, I totally understand the need for carbs. This time I'm using WW, the plan to which I've always returned, to learn to live with all the food groups.

I have not followed Dukan to the letter, but have applied his principles to my plan. I appreciate the struggle that is associated with giving up carbs- been there got the video and the tshirt, but I sit here 143lbs lighter thanks to a low carb way of life . I'd say whatever your plan, there will be things you have to forgo to reach your goals - decide what you are prepared to sacrifice and stick to it - if I can do it, anyone can !! Good luck

Besides the quick weight loss, what I loved about the South Beach diet was how after a week my carb cravings were non existent! It's like withdrawl when you cut out the carbs. If you can do it (make all the good treats and meals and you'll forget about carbs) you will feel better and have a good few weeks without the carb cravings Plus you'll gain a few new tricks.

I never could make it past a week on SB LOL. It is a great diet but with two little kids (I can't make them go carb free) and a very limited food budget....SB just doesn't work well for me. What I like about WW is I can take the kids favorites and make them WW friendly and they never notice! So its a win win for both

Kimberly, I was totally bogged mentally about hitting my 10% goal, and thus breaking into the 200's. When it finally dawned on me that thinking that way, only about the goal, was slowing the loss down. So my goal for the week was .5. I worked out more than I had in weeks, and didn't step on the scale except at WW or my doc's office. Sure enough, I hit 10%, and 296, and lost the mental block!
Hopefully changing your way of thinking and stressing (which hurts loss) will break those that 6 lb!!!!
