Talking New to 3FC

Hi Everyone,
I just found this site as I was looking around for some nutritional and exercise motivation. I have been watching what I eat for over 2 months now and could use some community camaraderie. My journey started out very small and has greatly gained momentum over the past three months.
My initial weight in January was 228
I now weight 204 and am very excited at my progress.
I"m realizing that it is actually possible for me to be at a healthy weight.
My mini goal is to get to 180 by July.
Ultimate goal is to be 155 by my Birthday in October.
So thank you in advance for any advice or encouragment you can provide.
Looking forward to all of it

Hey there and Welcome!

Congratulations on your progress so far. My only advice is to stick around this community, it's really helpful both to celebrate your accomplishments and for those days (or...ahem, longer) when you get off track, or go so far off track you don't even know where the track is.

Keep it up!

Hey K3ll3Y,
I am new on here as well. My journey started over a year ago when I weighed 231 lbs, not my heaviest, but heavy enough. I now weigh 205. As you can see that, yes, I lost weight but have hit a big brick wall. I can't get under 200 lbs. My goal is 150 and I am giving myself a year to lose the rest. I quit smoking 6 weeks ago and started a mild workout routine. I haven't lost anything. Then a friend at work really pushed me to start Weight Watchers. She was so please with it and kept telling me how great it was. I am so glad I started it. I love this way of eating(not a diet). I have actually lost a pound in 2 days. I was curious to know what you are doing to lose your weight?

Hi UrkaBees,
Welcome to 3FC and thanks for saying Hello. I'm still figuring my way around here and it's nice to have another new person to talk to.
I have personally heard great things about Weight Watchers and have a few co-workers who swear by it. Congratulations on getting started and loosing that first pound :-) I was intimidated at the idea of meetings and really wanted to keep my dieting private while I was starting off. I mean I've tried and failed so many times I really didn't want to bring any attention to what I was trying to do this time around. I did use some of the weight watcher ideas though.
What I have been doing is keeping a food journal online. FitDay has a free one. I have been using their calculators and nutrition tracking to be sure I get enough nutrients in my day but don't exceed my calories. The site helped me set up what my base caloric intake is and then how much I would need to cut daily to loose around 1-2 lbs a week. I record everything that I eat no matter how small and it really makes a big difference.
Keep me updated on how it's going.

I just joined yesterday. Welcome and way to stick with it so long now. I tried and failed so many times within the first week. I'm now 1 1/2 weeks into it and am DETERMINED to stick with it. I sought out support by joining 3FC and doing Fitday.com to watch my vitamin and minerals to make sure I'm eating properly. Welcome!!!!

I don't have the time to do meetings myself and I don't do the program online either. I actually know someone who did go to meetings at one point and she gave me her stuff and told me how to get started. Plus I have a buddy at work doing it with me and she does it herself too. I keep a daily food journal in my purse at all times and write everything down, even if it doesn't have any points. I have found that keeping track was not as hard as I thought and it has made me very aware of what I am eating. My problem has never been what to eat but eating too much. I have never ever been able to do portion control but with this I can and I feel full. My weigh in day is on Monday and I am so excited to see my progress.

The food journal will really help and it will get you much more conscious about portions and proper serving sizes. Try hard to stick to plan this weekend and let me know how you are doing on Monday.
