I started WW for the first time on Sunday 03/20. I am super excited about this next chapter in my life.
I am currently 260.6 and would utlimately like to be 160.
I'm definitely a newbie too! I'm on my third week of WW so far... first two weeks weren't too great, but it was my own fault!
I added exercise to my routine this week and am already seeing results just three days in! I'm not a veteran at all, but so far I can definitely recommend exercising as much as you can! I joined the YMCA and am using one of their personal trainers and so far no regrets!
The most important thing you can do is TRACK and remember to not deprive yourself of anything. This is a lifestyle, not a diet so make sure you treat yourself every now and again. I make sure to have a treat everyday, that way I keep my cravings in check.
Our stats are similar, we started at around the same weight. I have lost 103lbs in 14 months and am almost down to 160lbs. If I can do this, anyone can!!
Almost forgot! Exercise is important, find something you really enjoy doing, that makes a huge difference. For me, it's Zumba! VERY addicting!
My best tip is write it down no matter how many points you eat. If you go to McDonalds and get a super value meal, write it down and add it up to your daily menu. If you go to a restaurant that isn't in the book, sit down and calculate to the best of your ability and write it down and track it. Just keep up with it so you have the big picture. It will help you stay on track!
Second best is don't skip a meeting. Even if you think you gained, who cares - go to the meeting. You can skip weigh in, but the support and knowledge you gain there will be a big boost for the next 7 days! My mother is a Lifetimer, and has been going to meeting for 7 years.
Welcome! I joined on 03/05, and so far I have almost lost 8lbs.
I like WW because you don't have to deprive yourself - you can basically eat whatever you want, but in moderation! It also helps you make healthier food choices. I now look at nutrition labels and understand whether something is good for me or just empty calories.
Like suggested above, track everything! Be accountable for what you eat, so that you don't give yourself any "free passes". It really helps!
I think i am moving into week number 9 with WW, so i am a noobie too. I think i always will be! but... i am down almost 15lbs so far which i am very happy about. I wasnt going to the gym very much initially, but since then i have joined the gym at work and go every day after work for 30-45 min. I do some cardio and i go home. I figure its better than nothing and i feel better for doing it. In a few weeks i am starting Zumba.
Welcome! and as was mentioned make sure you track everything you eat as best as you can. Wishing you the best of luck of reaching your goals. we will all be here every step of the way
Others have given you very good advice already, so I will just add to not fall into the 'all or nothing' mentality. This is not a race, it's the rest of your life. When you slip up - and we all do - acknowledge it and move on. Don't let one over-indulgent meal/day/weekend turn into a day/week/month.
And I know this sounds weird, but enjoy the process. If you are hating it, you either won't stick with it or you'll be miserable. Find new foods to like, new exercises, try different things and embrace the changes you are making to your life and your body. Celebrate the little successes and milestones and not just the ones on the scale.
I restarted ww this past weekend too. I am trying to drop this weight in a years time. I have to renew my drivers liscence next year so I would Love to get a new picture done. Lol. I want to get healthy for my family and for myself.
This is my first time around with WW and I am 10 weeks in and 19 lbs down! it is true what everyone else is saying....it is not a diet.
I also agree that you need to log EVERYTHING you put into your mouth...even liquid. When you have a "bad" day, with the tracking, you can see why and when your weight is not going anywhere. But, as you are so aware now, you tend not to cheat as much...at least I don't.
And also, remember that if you "cheat" by not counting thepoints of something, you are really only cheating yourself!
I just started last week. It's been a little bumpy. I had the flu and then extreme hunger when I got better.
The hard thing for me is planning ahead and breaking habits. I work at home, but go into the office once a week. I usually splurge on that day that I go in. I will stop and get breakfast and eat lunch out. I need to come up with a strategy for those days.
I am thinking of going back to WW. I was very successful 10 years ago (made my goal weight) and fell off the wagon 2 years ago.
my advice is to plan ahead.. Take some extra time on Sunday nights and chop up veggies and put them in containers in your frig for the week. Break up boxes of crackers or what ever you like to snack on into little baggies. So you always have a snack portion ready to go!!!
Take a sharpie and write on your food containers so you are aware of your choices!!
I am in week 6 of WW, so I too am a Newbie. The ladies here have given you great advice (and I know I am listening!)
Make sure you go to the meetings if you are a member. I get such great advice from the ladies, and gentleman or two, that are there. It really helps me to be more accountable to step on the scale every week.
I just started walking with a purpose last week and have noticed a huge difference already. I have more energy, it makes me want to eat healthier, and the scale is moving in the right direction!
