Default Help for a newbie??

Hey every one, i'm getting to the end of my first week, of what will hopefully be the start of a new slimmer me. I never want to get to 16st again, ever. So what would be really helpful is if maybe any one could share their weight loss stories with me, like getting to goal, maintaining, getting to mini goals etc etc as well as any tips and tricks you may have to stay on the wagon and make the whole weight loss period as pain-free and, dare I say it, fun as possible.

Thanks very much

Hi,

I've just posted in the introductions section. Unfortunately I can't share any success stories with you as I'm in the same boat as you. I just realised that I'm the heaviest I've ever been and am mortified by it and determined to get myself into shape. Maybe we could help each other out?

I don't know what exercise you do, but I've joined a gym where they offer lots of classes. I like those better than working out alone as I can't give up halfway through and they're never boring.

PS I'm from good ol' Somerset too, although I live abroad now.

Yeah that would be great. I'm not very fit at the moment so i'm trying to walk every day, my sister comes with me, and I've got some fitness dvds which are called latinatone and the charlie brooks one. I'm the opposite, I like working out alone, as if i'm with someone else I tend to chat and get nothing done lol. Whereabouts in somerset?

If you like using workout DVDs I highly, highly recommend Leslie Sansone's Walk away the pounds (WATP). Those were the ones I used at the beginning of my weight loss.

As for other tips, I suggest not making too many changes at the same time, and not restricting your calories too much either, use the 'momentum' you get at the beginning of weight loss to your advantage.

Other stuff that has motivated me is making myself look better, that is, before I only worried about covering my fat, but now I find wearing lipstick, a nice perfume, pretty earrings and hair accessories make me feel good and are not related to my size so they bring no attached frustrations when I'm getting ready and all those things help me feel better about myself and motivate me to hurry up and lose so I can finally compliment all those with gorgeous clothes!

I'm from near Wellington (out in the country a bit). I now live in The Netherlands, though, so following work out classes in Dutch is a bit of a challenge.

How has your first week gone? I've only started this weekend so it's a bit soon to say - although I really fancied pizza after work this evening. Resisted though.

Hello! I don't have much to contribute in the weight-loss-story bit, but do enjoy exercise very much and have a tip. Along with the good suggestions of finding something you like to do (classes, videos and such), I know I always feel better in real workout clothes. The pretty kind. The kind that make people think you must be an avid exerciser just by looking at you. It's amazing how proper gear makes you feel. I think it goes into the, "fake it until you make it" category Good luck!
