Default Finally bought a food scale....

....what a difference! I'm not sure how I lost the first 10 lbs as I was measuring with cups and spoons and definately eating alot more calories than I was counting!

I'm happy to be on the right track and can definately see calorie counting as a new way of life ~ not a diet.

I just wanted to share.

Trust me....the difference is phenomenal. I lost the first 25 or so lbs without a food scale and finally bought one when I hit a plateau. I was shocked at how much calories I had been eating all long. After getting my scale, I broke right through my plateau.

A food scale is not really expensive ....you should be able to get one for around $20

I paid $30 for a food scale that figures out calories, fibre, carbs, sodium ect. of about 500 pre programmed items.

I got a digital weight scale that does body fat, water, and BMI for about $50.

It does cost money but it's worth it to me.

There is a biggest loser brand one I got at Bed Bath and Beyond for $20.00 and I love it!!! Best investment ever!!! I measure everything now. Makes things like peanut butter way easier to measure out. Mine does grams and ounces. Super cool!

Food scales are great, aren't they? I had one in the past that got broken and only just recently replaced it.

It's amazing to me to see how much variation there can be in weight(and therefore calories) between even several "medium sized" apples. O_o

What I really love about my food scale isn't necessarily the accuracy, though, but that I don't always necessarily want exactly 1 cup of blueberries... maybe I want an amount that would work out to be 1 and 1/5 cups, or another day 3/4 cups... and I can just pile them onto my plate to my satisfaction when measuring with the food scale and simply use whatever weight it turned out to be that day.

Oh, and it's great to not have to wash all of those measuring cups and spoons each day, too!

Couple that with a digital scale and you're looking at 50+ dollars...and I'm on a budget.

What I love is when I'm weighing stuff that lists a weight and an amount on the nutritional information like pretzels. It will say 1 oz is about 17 pretzels but when I weight it out, I sometimes get 20 or 21!

Target has a non-digital scale for $4. Obviously not quite as accurate as others but it's been working for me for some time and I love it!

I love my digital food scale. It has been worth every penny and more. I really credit having one for a lot of my weight loss - it definitely makes calorie counting easier. Have fun with it!
