Default how many calories really?

I got an app on my Ipod to help track my calorie needs, and it gives me an allowance number according to my age, weight height etc (basic BMR).... when i add excercise to it, it adds those calories to my calorie allowance. Now it allow 1400-1500... But i decided to try a higher rated app; that app allows only 1200. And when i look online, they go as high as 2800 a day. The lowest i've seen is 1800. So which number is it to lose weight healthily? lol

For your weight I'd say 1200-1800 calories a day depending on hunger. That's what I do.

216 is current weight? Sedentary? About 2160 to maintain then. -500 for 1 lb a week? 1660 with no exercise. If you exercise, you can eat more if the exercise is making you hungry.

All that stuff is just to put you in the ball park. Once you actually do it your food log will tell you what you need to know and what tweaks are needed.

GL!

I was told to multiply weight by 10 to lose (by 9 for faster weight loss), by 12 to maintain and by 14 to gain ( all a rough approximation of course and it assumes you do light exercise or are active at least 3 days per week. Never go below 1200 calories however and if your caloric intake is low and you are not losing weight, then maybe you will have to increase your calorie as I had to do.

That's an awesome way to calculate!
