Default What a Fabulous Community!

Hello everyone

It's about time that I introduced myself. I've been a member for a few weeks, and spent a lot of time reading the site prior to joining. What a great place, with so many wonderfully, supportive, strong individuals!

My all time high weight was 231, December of 1995, 6 months after my youngest child was born. By 1998 I had lost 111 pounds and kept it off until the end of 2005. In December of 2005, I suffered an injury that left me unable to be physically active. I had a difficult time adjusting to the changes that came along with it. With barely being able to move, the side effects of medications, and throwing in the towel, I gained 38 pounds.

So, here I am with a new attitude, a new lease on life, and another great way to hold myself accountable. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you better, and supporting you along your journey's too.

Welcome!

You are not alone and will find all kinds of support from folks who have regained for various reasons. But of course they lost their weight again
Please, make yourself at home.

Hey there, and

You are definitely not alone. One of the hardest things I struggled with in my weight loss was injuries...they throw me into a tailspin of "I am in pain, therefore, I deserve ice cream", and the inactivity associated with a bad injury doesn't help. BUT I want to point out that you stopped your regain before you were back where you started, which is already a great step.

We have groups here by eating plan, amount to lose (you might check out the Featherweights, since you're fairly close to goal), age range, and a lot of other topics, so hopefully you've learned your way around and are jumping on in.

Can't wait to get to know you better!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

mandalinn82 Thank you! I really appreciate you pointing out that I stopped my regain before getting back to my start weight. It's definitely a 'positive'. Sometimes it's really easy to lose sight of that.

Here's to all of us getting through our tailspins whatever they may be

Thanks! Welcome to you too

I counted calories - ate a balanced diet of 1300-1500 cal's per day, cut out carbonated soft drinks, fast food, and most other processed foods, as well as exercise 3 - 4 days per week.

edit: forgot to mention that I found 'healthier' ways to make some of my favorite foods, so I didn't really feel like I was giving anything up i.e. baking instead of frying, low fat alternatives, etc...
